General Assembly

On June 10, 2012, the annual General Assembly of Sampaguita took place at Arno Höferlin's Grill Garden located in Bad Bellingen. New members were welcomed and Mrs. Iraida Jester was elected as new treasurer to replace Mr. Egon Glienke. Iraida comes from Laguna, Philippines and is a teacher and bookeeper by profession. She lives in a lovely place in Grenzach-Wyhlen. South Germany. Mr. Egon Glienke and Roland Heimann were appointed as auditors.

Judges were Mr. Rizal Victoria (Heidelberg), Marilyn Fernandez (Basel), Leo Bretana(Stuttgart) and former Mrs. Sampaguita Queen 2010, Mrs. Pia Dones-Kuhrt of Luxembourg.

Fundraising

International Fest Lörrach

On July, 2012, Sampaguita e.V. participated in the International Fest which is celebrated yearly in Lörrach. Ely Glienke, Iraida Jester and Celi Heimann sold Filipino delicacies, clothing and other household stuffs. Other nationalities presented their own folk dancing and singing. It was a successful festival for all of us since the weather was just perfect for the occassion.

Lichterfest Bad Bellingen

On July 2012, Sampaguita e.V. participated the „Lichterfest“ in Bad Bellingen. Unfortunately, we could not raise funds due to bad weather and very few guests attended the festival.

Projects

1) The German Ministry of Defense in Berlin „Bundeswehr“ has approved our proposal to send aid in terms of surgical instruments and other hospital equipment to the District Hospital of Bindoy, Negros Oriental, Philippines, after the earthquake in February 2012 fully destroyed it.

2) SEZ – Stiftung Entwicklungs Zusammenarbeit Baden-Württemberg

An application for a Testing Laboratory for Drinking Water at the City Health Office in Dumaguete City has been proposed.

Ökumenische Philippinenkonferenz tagte in Weimar

Rund 50 Teilnehmer aus ganz Deutschland haben sich dazu am Wochenende in der EJBW getroffen. Thema war die Bevölkerungsentwicklung. . Während aus dem Weimarer Talkessel am Wochenende die Volksfeststimmung des Zwiebelmarktes dampfte, richteten auf einer kleinen Anhöhe 50 Menschen aus ganz den Blick in die weite Ferne. Sie trafen sich am Wochenende in der Europäischen Jugendbildungsstätte EJBW zur 28. Ökumenischen Philippinenkonferenz (ÖPK).

Dahinter verbirgt sich eine lose multireligiöse Gruppierung, die sich seit 1985 jährlich zusammenfindet. Zu ihr gehören Vertreter aus Hilfswerken und kirchlichen Organisationen. Zustande kam sie damals, nachdem kirchliche Kreise auf den die Weltöffentlichkeit um Hilfe baten. Denn in der Marcos-Diktatur waren einst Menschenrechtsverletzungen an der Tagesordnung.

Die Diktatur ist inzwischen Geschichte, die ÖPK aber gibt es immer noch. Denn die Lebensbedingungen in dem südostasiatischen Staat haben sich "alles in allem nicht verändert", sagt Dorothea Seeliger, "auch wenn der Mittelstand wächst".

Dorothea Seeliger ist im evangelischen Kirchenkreises aktiv und kam nach einer privaten

Philippinenreise vor 25 Jahren eher zufällig zur ÖPK. Inzwischen gehört sie zu deren Vorbereitungskreis und ist "das Fossil hier", sagt sie. Sie habe sich damals mit dem "Virus" der Begeisterung für die infiziert und sei ihn nicht mehr losgeworden.

Die ÖPK tagt deutschlandweit, mehrfach bereits auch in . Nun hatte ein Mitglied die EJBW als Tagungsort entdeckt. Die Konferenzthemen befassen sich mit konkreten Problemlagen auf den , die oft exemplarisch für globale Entwicklungen stehen und auch die deutsche Wirklichkeit widerspiegeln.

Vielfalt leben – Chancengleichheit fördern –Vereine gründen

Sampaguita ist wieder mal an dieser Veranstaltung eingeladen für den 9-10. März 2013 für den Kongress für Migrantinnen und ihre Organisationen in Deutschland. Das letzte mal haben Roland u. Araceli Heimann 19.-20.11.2011 in Frankfurt am Mainteilgenommen.
