Choosing What I See BY: SOLOMON DAVID SENIOR MINISTER, BCCC As I was reading the gospel of John this morning, there was a verse that stuck out to me, you know, one of those hidden treasures of Scripture that you never really saw before but then it jumps off the pages at you? It was John 1:16 “From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.” I needed a reminder of God’s faithfulness and his goodness in spite of the broken world we live in. We can so easily focus upon those things which are broken, people who are hurtful, and headlines that are depressing, when all around us are everyday graces of God manifesting themselves in the simplest of forms. It’s when my son snuggles next to me and says “I love you dad.” God has graced me with the privilege of fatherhood. It’s watching my daughters dance gracefully at their dance recital. God has graced me with healthy children. It’s my wife embracing me when I come home in the evenings affirming her love of me. God has graced me with a best friend and soul mate. It’s getting the privilege of seeing changed lives through the ministry of our church and partnering with others who love Jesus. God has graced me with living my dream at a church that hungers and thirsts to make a difference for Jesus. All around me are these daily expressions of God’s grace that I am so quick to diminish or even miss because of all the negativity in our world. I heard a message by Chuck Swindoll years ago and it was all about attitude. Here is a snippet of that for your enjoyment: "The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude…I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me, and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you…you are in charge of your attitude." Graced daily, Solomon I SSUE #104 FEBRUARY 2016 2147 N STATE ROAD 15, WABASH, IN 46992 (260) 563-4109 . OFFICE , (260) 563-1261 . Maybe your new here to Bachelor Creek Church. Maybe you’ve been coming to BCCC for years. Either way this retreat is a great way for you to get to know the guys at our church. In just a little over a month from now (March 11th and 12th) the men at Bachelor Creek will be gathering together for our annual “Battle Ready” Men’s Retreat.

Last year we had over 80 men who gathered together in the name of Christ to be challenged to become better Men. This year we hope even more of our Men from BCCC will join us as we gather together to dig a little deeper into becoming the men that God intended us to be. We pack a lot into a shortened weekend. We have carefully planned the experience so there is something for everyone. We will be challenged by some of our own men here at BCCC. G a m e s , e v e n i n g m o v i e , g r o u p

discussions, and a men’s retreat favorite, W h o b r o u g h t t h e b e s t s n a c k c o m p e t i t i o n ? I b e l i e v e M i k e Rheinheimer was the winner last year. Don’t let him show you all up again this year guys.

We hope you come ready to worship together as men. The great part about this retreat is that the men of BCCC rally together and support each other towards a deeper walk with Christ. No outside speakers, no flashy gimmicks,

just great fun with other men of all ages having a blast in the Lord! See us at the Connecting Point here at church to pick up your registration form.

Thank You!To the 2015 Christmas Dinner Theater TeamThis is my first opportunity to thank everyone for all the work on the Christmas Dinner Theater. And believe me…it takes a lot of work.

On any given night of the performance we had 24 servers, 7 kitchen staff, 6 technical staff, 25 choir members (who aided as extras in the show), 4 band members, 2 stage managers, 2 hosts, and a cast of 11. Add it all up and we had 81 volunteers per night. That is pretty awesome if you ask me. AND… several of the kitchen staff put in 12 hour days for each performance because they prepared all the food as this was the first year we did not hire a caterer. If you attended the CDT you know the food was delicious!

If you can’t tell by my writing… my buttons are about to pop. I am so proud to be a part of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ. You, the Church, are so willing to answer the call to serve

the Church, the community and most importantly…Christ. The evidence of this is found in the Christmas Dinner Theater, Kids Hope, Blessings in a Backpack, mission trips, and all the people it takes to run a Sunday morning program throughout the building. I am of corse leaving out others, but my/our thanks goes out to you all. What a great Church to be a part of!!!

Our Anniversary CardON FEBRUARY 14, RAMONA AND I WILL CELEBRATE OUR 6TH ANNIVERSARY AT BACHELOR CREEK. WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO ADDITIONAL BLESSINGS AS WE CONTINUE TO WORK TOGETHER WITH A VERY SPECIAL GROUP OF PEOPLE. THANKS FOR THESE SIX GOOD YEARS AND COUNTING.I (Ken) tend to put these six years into a much longer historical perspective. On page 3 of the 2015 BCCC Church Directory there is a picture of the progression of 5 buildings on our current site. (One picture is above.) These depict the steps of faith taken by members of this congregation through many years. Their work, sweat and tears were dedicated to bringing people to Jesus so these new Christians would have the opportunity of c e l e b r a t i n g t h e i r s p i r i t u a l anniversaries in Heaven for thousands and thousands of years. As more people responded, there was the need to add building space anticipating in faith those who would fill the new pews and grow into positions of service.

In our six years here, we (imperfect people saved by the grace of God) have joined kindred individuals who are still committed to the same goal of our spiritual forerunners. Our members continue to complete the necessary assignments each Sunday morning; many visit and take food to the sick and bereaved; words of encouragement are given at the needed time; anonymous monetary gifts are shared with struggling families or individuals; parents make sure their kids are at events that will build their faith; the mentors and prayer partners give valuable time to the Kid’s Hope and Awana students; our youth and 1825 crew pray for and invite their non-Christian friends; we keep our baptistry filled and ready; our folk

give financially and faithfully through the year; and there are hundreds of “never-to-be-bragged-about” deeds performed that make a difference in the lives of many people. The result of all this is many more will be in Heaven because they heard about Jesus through the work of humble and thankful people who call Bachelor Creek home.

F o r m e , t h i s i s w h y o u r 6th anniversary is special. Together we are sharing in efforts to change the future history of individual lives. Let’s always be faithful to our calling to “make room for more at the foot of the cross of Jesus.”
