To all parents thank you for your support this week, the staff and pupils have

really appreciated it. Personally I would like to acknowledge the staff who

have shown professionalism and ongoing commitment to your children. As

you will know Nicola Hornsey has been appointed as commissioner. We will

be having meetings over the next few days and I will keep you updated with

    developments.

Things have been rolling along at their usual frantic Term 4 pace. Last week

the House Captains held a very successful MIO-BFO (Muft i, Inside Out,Back to Front , Odd day) last Friday. This was in support of Sam, 5, and

Charlotte Gillan, 7, who have Hurler-Scheie syndrome. As a community we

raised $341.50 to help this family in their time of need. The assortment of

out there clothing was hilarious and the children had so much fun dressing

    up.

The night before the PTA organised a Tricky Treats movie night where

children dressed as their favourite spooky characters and enjoyed the movie Hotel Transylvania. Thank you to

the PTA parents for decorating the hall and PE shed. A special thanks to Anita Hayman for taking some amazing

photos. If you havent yet, please check out the Halloween movie link on our facebook page.

Our Jump Jam team is off to the National Championships

    next Friday.

The girls have put hours of practice in to improve their

routine. They have polished their performance by

performing at Waihopai School. A huge thank you to the

adults involved for helping the team get this far.

Statement released by the Ministry of Education.

A Commissioner, Nicola Hornsey, has been appointed to

Salford School effective from 8 November 2013.

The Commissioner replaces the Board of Trustees who

resigned on 31 October 2013. The Commissioner has all

the functions, powers and duties of the Board to meet its

statutory obligations and to work with the community to

return the school to an effective form of elected

    governance.

The Commissioner has responsibility for leadership and

decision making on all issues related to governance of the

    school.

The Commissioners initial meeting will be on Friday

8 November, with the Acting Principal and staff to establish

a working relationship. She will then set up arrangements

to meet with parents and school community members.

The Ministry of Education has a monitoring role and issupporting the school with financial assistance for the

    statutory intervention.

    The Wishing Well.

I never knew this but at the end of my farm there is

a wishing well. I looked down into the wishing well and

I saw a whole new world down there. I could see

fluffy water at the bottom of the waterfall. I

jumped grabbing onto the bucket. I landed in thefoamy water.

The trees are waving swish, swish, swish and making

shade. The grass is shiny and

muddy and when I stand in it

all the mud oozes up and

    takes over the green grass.

The rocks are as slippery as a

zoom slide. When I put my

hand down into the water I

can see the reflection of the

    bucket dangling down.
