A huge crowd of potential buyers witnessed a real ‘Old fashioned Devon sale’ with everything from Granite to a hay cart and a kettle to a tractor!

Top call of the day was £9,000 given for lot 279 being the Ford tractor going to its new home in South East Cornwall with the Lightfoot Family of Stoke Climsland. Other tractors included the Case 2WD which raced away to £3,900 and went to Jacobstow, North Cornwall whilst the other Ford (loader tractor) also raised £3,900.

The ‘K reg’ Landrover attracted huge interest both on & off the sale field with 3 ‘away buyers’ ready to bid on the phone. After somewhat of a bidding war it sold for £3,600 to a Lewdown farming family. The Kverneland mower hit £2,800 closely followed by the Massey Ferguson tractor (electrical issues) reaching £1,850. Amongst the farm implements the grass roller hit £270, bale squeeze at £170 and harrows at £160.

Amongst the non-farming items was the Mondeo car that reached £2,500 going to Milton Damerel with the air compressor at £100, gates to £70, granite troughs to £105, granite posts to £100 and flower pots to £90.

Speaking after the sale Kivells Director David Kivell said “It was a great pleasure to have conducted today’s sale

and it was very fitting to see so many people in attendance in respect of John”.
