Easter Sunday - The Resurrection of the Lord April 1, 2018

FOCUS: Is it fact or fiction? The totality of our faith hinges on our fervent belief that the tomb is empty. It all comes down to this. Jesus being raised from the dead gives purpose to his cross and ours. Without the Resurrection, all suffering is absurd, death is the end and we are lost.

LITURGY OF THE WORD: Saint Peter gives a summary of the Paschal Mystery in our reading from Acts. In the reading from Colossians, Paul reminds us that being raised in Christ calls us to a higher stand-ard. In the Gospel, Mary Magdala does not go into the empty tomb right away. Instead, she seeks out Peter and the Beloved Disciple.

REFLECTION: What and where are the empty tombs for us? Relationships that have died, or dried up; pursuits and ambitions that have proven vain and wasted; misplaced confidences in what was shallow and fruitless; nostalgic attempts to re-create the warm and good feelings we had when we were children coming to church on Easter Sunday?

So we ask ourselves:

• Does the empty tomb remind us of the places and situations in our lives which have proved lifeless and left us empty inside?

• Do I believe that Christ is alive and with me as I peer into the empty tomb?

ABRIL 1, 2018 DOMINGO DE LA RESURRECIÓN DEL SEÑOR.

ALELUYA! ALELUYA! Celebramos la Solemnidad de la RESURRECCIÓN DEL SE-ÑOR! ALELUYA! ALELUYA!
