OUR CONFIRMATION CELEBRATION TODAY� This Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm, we will welcome retired Bishop William J. Winter for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation. � Nearly 60 students from Saint Scholastica Parish, Saint Juan Diego Parish, Saint Pio Parish, and our regional school, Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy, will be here with their sponsors, parents, and families as the fullness of the Holy Spirit is shared with them. These young men and women will also publically profess and commit themselves to our faith and life as Catholic Christians in the Church. � May the Lord bless these young Catholic Christians, their families, our parish communities, and all the Church today and through all the years ahead!�

NEXT WEEKEND’S IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS�

We’re only one week away from Bishop Zubik’s announcement of the new Clergy Teams of priests and deacons who will serve and lead each of

the new parish groupings that will come into effect on Sunday, October 15. Next weekend, the Bishop’s letter that will be read at each Liturgy will share the names of the priests and deacons being assigned to each parish grouping, and the letter will also announce the new assignments where current parish clergy will be transferred on October 15. Let us all continue to pray for our Diocesan Church and for all our parishes, clergy, and church members!�

A CHANGE IN OUR PARISH STAFF� Beginning tomorrow, Monday, April 23, our parish bookkeeper, Mrs. Amy Condosta, will change from her full time position with our parish staff to a part�time evening role here as she also begins her new work in the finance division of a company located near her home. Amy will continue as our part�time parish bookkeeper until mid�October when the new clergy administrative team will begin a new era (and a new administration) for all four parishes here in this local parish grouping.� Regarding Amy’s other responsibilities here, the bookkeeping for Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy has now been transferred to the regional North Hills Regional Catholic Elementary Schools and will be overseen by Andrea Vescio, the regional business manager. � Also, our Safe Environment Program will be overseen by Mrs. Debbie Van Demark. We will also work to provide office and telephone coverage so that our parish will continue to be administered well from now until mid�October when the new future begins!�

It’s good and important for us to remember each day�throughout these 50 days of the Easter Season�that the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus is the most important event in the history of the world and the history of humanity! The Resurrection of Jesus was a phenomenal event which also confirmed Jesus’ identity as the only Son of God and as the Messiah and Savior of humanity.� In addition to Jesus’ event and promise of the Resurrection, the Lord has also given us sacred gifts about which we hear in the Scripture readings of this Easter Season. In those amazing 50 days of the first Easter, Jesus also gave all his followers the gift of divine life in the Eucharist which we still celebrate today. The Risen Lord also gave us his gift of mercy and forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In addition, Jesus gave us all the promise that he would be our Good Shepherd who cares for and protects and provides for all of us who are his people.� May we always remain close to the Lord Jesus and be grateful for all the goodness and gifts that he gives to us throughout our lives. NEWS ABOUT OUR SANCTUARY WALL� The survey results have been tallied, and it’s a photo finish! More than 550 members and friends participate in our Sunday Liturgies each week. About 250 adults and family members chose to submit a ballot in our sanctuary wall survey. While some expected the result to be an overwhelming request to repaint the sanctuary wall, such is not the case. Slightly more than half of the ballots voted for repainting, and nearly half of those responding have asked that the current appearance be retained. � Since the result is so close, I will wait and discuss this matter with the new administrative team (of the new local parish grouping) that will be named by the Bishop next weekend. This seems to be a fair approach. � Father Jim Torquato �

�OUR 2018 PARISH SHARE CAMPAIGN�

Thank you for your annual support of our Parish Share Campaign which allows us to support Bishop Zubik and our Diocesan Church!� Our 2018 Parish Share goal is to raise $67,780 for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh. Congratulations to our 50 students in the Eighth Grade who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation this Sunday! All of the Eighth Grade students in our CDTCA regional school and in our parish Religious Education program are receiving the Gift of the Holy Spirit The Lord gives us this sacred gift so that we might always be in union with him and so that we receive the divine life of God. APPALACHIA TEAM SPAGHETTI DINNER�

Next Sunday, April 29, 4:00pm�7:00pm, our Appalachia Mission Team will hold its annual Spaghetti Dinner in the school cafeteria to help raise funds for this June’s Mission Trip. All are welcome to come for dinner and support this Mission Trip.�

ANNIVERSARY FOR OUR ENTIRE �DIOCESE OF PITTSBURGH�

On Sunday, July 29, at Saint Paul Cathedral, Fifth Avenue, Oakland, Bishop David Zubik and the entire Church of Pittsburgh will celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the establishment of our Diocese. All members and families of our Diocesan Church are invited to join in this celebration at 2:30pm, July 29!��

A SPECIAL SEPTEMBER 25 DAY OF�EUCHARISTIC ADORATION FOR ‘ON MISSION’�

As our Diocese launches the next important phase of our “On Mission” effort this April 29, Bishop David Zubik has requested that all of our current 188 parishes host time for Eucharistic Adoration in our churches to pray for the success of this program. The date given to our parish for this prayer will be Tuesday, September 25, 12 noon�7:00pm. Let’s all pray for our future and for the “On Mission” effort!��

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL JUNE 11�15� From Monday, June 11 through Friday, June 15, our parish Religious Education staff will once again hold a morning Vacation Bible School for young children ages 5�9. The donation is $15 for each student before May 1 and then $25 for each student after May 1, 2018. � In addition, older students and parents are welcome to offer your time as VBS helpers. CAMP HELPING HAND JULY 9�11� For three days, July 9�11, our Religious Education staff will hold the annual Camp Helping Hand to engage middle school students (grades 6�8) in local service projects for the benefit of our local community. CDTCA TEACHER OF THE MONTH�

Mrs. Gina Studebaker has been the Language Arts teacher for Grades 6�8 for 11 years. Mrs. Studebaker began her career in Catholic education at North American Martyrs School in Monroeville as an art teacher. After raising her children, Elizabeth and Ben, Mrs. Studebaker came to CDTCA in 2007. She has always appreciated the Catholic educational environment here at CDTCA, and she is most thank-ful to be a faculty member of CDTCA where she can share and live the Catholic faith with her students every day.�
