Pastoral Message This weekend we were supposed to have the Mission Cooperative Appeal. Fr. Mathew Kakkattupillil V.C. from India canceled his mis-sion due to the terrible flooding in India. The mission would be postponed. Please pray for people in India. On Sunday, August 26, the women from all Au-rora parishes who stand out for their great work and service to the Church will be recognized at the “Women of Inspiration” event. Congratulations to Oanh Mai, who will represent our parish at the recognition ceremony. Oanh Mai was born in Viet Nam and immigrated to the U. S. in 1975. She moved from Buffalo, NY to Aurora, IL in 1986, where her family has been a member of St. Rita of Cascia since 1978. She began volunteering at the parish as a catechist in 1987 and taught Religious Edu-cation for 10 years. Throughout her years at St. Rita she has served as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister and has assisted with totaling the weekly collections. Since 2012, she has been a sacristan for weekend masses and special celebra-tions. Her duties also include keeping track of the supply and inventory of liturgical items such as hosts, wine, candles, etc.…Throughout the liturgical year she makes sure all items needed for each sea-son or for any celebrations are available and ready.

Este fin de semana estábamos supuestos a tener la Cooperación para las Misiones. El padre Mat-hew Kakkattupillil V.C. de la India canceló su visita debido a las terribles inundaciones regis-tradas en ese país, por lo que la misión se ha pospuesto. Por favor recen por la gente de la In-dia.
El domingo 26 de agosto se llevará a cabo el recono-cimiento a las mujeres que se destacan en las parro-quias de Aurora por su gran labor y servicio a la igle-sia, evento conocido como “La Mujer del Año.” Felicitaciones a Oanh Mai, quien representará a nuestra parroquia en este magno evento.
Oanh Mai nació en Vietnam e inmigró a los Estados Unidos en 1975. Ella llegó de Buffalo, N.Y. a Aurora y a la parroquia de Santa Rita de Cascia en 1986. Su familia ha sido miembro de esta parroquia desde 1978. Ella comenzó a ser voluntaria en la parroquia como catequista en 1987 y dio clases de educación religiosa por 10 años. Durante este tiempo en Santa Rita ha
sido Ministro Extraordinario de la Eucaristía y ha ayudado con el conteo semanal de la colecta. Desde el año 2012 ha sido sacristán durante las misas del fin de semana y para celebraciones especiales. Ella también se hace cargo de llevar el inventario de los artículos religiosos como las hostias, el vino, las ve-las, etc. Durante el año litúrgico ella se asegura de que todo lo necesario para cada temporada y para cualquier celebración esté disponible y listo.

Youth Group Meeting
School has started and so has St. Rita Youth Group. We are a group of teens from 8th grade on up that meet once a month (sometimes mo-re) to encourage, motivate, learn, laugh, and worship. It is NOT a class, it is NOT always a Bible Study, but it is ALWAYS fun! Come on Wednesday, September 5th 6:30pm in the Parish Center. Bring a friend or two.

LECTURAS DE LA SEMANA
There are things that we don’t like to do
I don’t like to read, but I read every day. I don’t like to go to bed early, yet I go to bed at ten every day. I don’t like to wake up early, but I wake up early every day. I don’t like to exercise, yet I walk several miles every day. I do all these things be-cause I know they are good for me. I know that reading everyday helps me to be bet-ter prepare and serve other people; I know that by going to bed early I can rest
and be ready for the next day; I know that waking up early helps me to be on time and fulfill my responsibilities; I know that a good routine of exercise keeps my body healthy even if I don’t always like it. There are things that we have to do even if we don’t like them. For some people prayer is one of those difficult things to do. How should I pray? Where to begin? Am I praying correctly? Is God really listening? Mass is the best prayer we can have, since it is the prayer of the same Jesus Christ on Calvary to the Father, so attending regularly to Mass and participating in it is a good way to begin. For somebody who never has prayed before, I would recommend starting doing a daily examination of conscience. It is as simple as at the end of the day think about the good things you have re-ceived from God on that day, and then reflect on the wrong things you have done and ask God’s forgiveness. At once you will be praying to God, and knowing yourself better. Pray even if you don’t feel it. Pray even if you don’t like it. Pray God always listens. Pray, and then keep silence be-cause we also need to hear God’s voice.
