September 10, 2017 Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Please pray for the Church in our Diocese
Heavenly Father, Bless your Church with an abundance of holy and zealous priests, deacons, brothers, and sisters. Give those you have called to the married state and those you have chosen to live as single persons in the world, the special graces that their lives require. Form us all in the likeness of your Son, so that in Him, with Him, and through Him, we may love you more deeply and serve you more faithfully, always and everywhere.
With Mary we ask this through Christ our Lord.
This week we pray especially for: Daniel Buchal of Sacred Heart
in Spring Valley, WI College I
Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary
Prayer Intention of the Week:
For the gift of knowing Jesus Christ and the ability to speak in and of His Name
www.olpmarshfield.com Saint of the Week The Holy Name of Mary
This day was chosen to honor the Holy Name of Mary. The feast was first granted in 1513, but only in the diocese of Cuenca, Spain; it was then suppressed by Pius V and revived by Sixtus V.
It was extended to the Kingdom of Naples and Milan in 1671 and became a universal feast on September 12, 1683, at the will of Pope Innocent XI, as thanks for the victory over the Turks who besieged Vienna and threatened Christianity. The feast recalls the significance of Mary, she that is the bearer of light, light that illuminated her soul and that has become the light for many other souls.

2 Welcome to Our Lady of Peace Parish · Marshfield
God is good. Parishioners continue to ask about the
health of my parents especially after my father had a
long winter with hospitalization and a stroke. We did
not know if he would pull through it, much less ever
return to the farm. I thank the good Lord all the time
that my father continues to live at home and to drive
to Mass and the all-important Thursday afternoon
hair appointment for my sweet mother. This coming
Thursday the 14th is the feast of the Triumph of the
Cross, and it will also be my parents' 60th wedding
anniversary. So I would like to bring them finally for
their first visit to OLP. Along with the 7 AM Mass and
the 8 o'clock school Mass I would like to offer Mass
again at 10:30 Thursday morning the 14th with my
parents attending. I would be delighted if some of
our parishioners could attend the 10:30 Mass so that
I could proudly show my parents what a good place
Our Lady of Peace Parish is. Just don't tell my dad
how long my homilies are on Sundays.
Yours in Christ, Fr. Berns

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The RCIA is about initiation into Jesus Christ. “Only Christ can lead us to the love of the Father in the Spirit and make us share in the life of the Holy Trinity” (Pope Saint John Paul II, On Catechesis, 5).
The RCIA program consists of classes to help us grow in the knowledge and practices of the Catholic faith so that we can come to a fuller understanding of Jesus Christ.
Our RCIA classes are available for anyone who: - is considering full membership in the Catholic Faith Community whether unbaptized, or baptized in another faith tradition. - is an adult Catholic who needs to prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation - is an adult who wants to grow in knowledge of the faith and practices of the Catholic Church - is an adult willing to share his/her faith with others.
RCIA 2017-2018 This year’s RCIA classes will begin on Mon., Sept. 18, 2017 at 6:30pm. Meetings will be held in the conference room of our administration building. Adjustments of date and time necessitated by people’s schedules will be made as needed. To register for classes or for additional information please contact Sister Virdean Meyer at 715-384-3044 or [email protected]
