BISHOP DAVID J. WALKOWIAK ASKS US TO PRAY FOR OUR SEMINARIANS
Loving God, Raise up dedicated leaders who will shepherd your people and guide them to your Son. Give generous and willing hearts to the seminarians of our Diocese who have heard your call to live a life of service to the Church. Help us to encourage and support them as they strive to become priests who are models of discipleship, possessors of wisdom and on fire with love for your people. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
We especially pray for: Mitchell Dietrich

ST MARY’S RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
PLEASE REMEMBER THESE ST. MARY’S PARISHIONERS IN YOUR PRAYERS
Religious Education Classes resume this Wednesday, January 4th at 6:15 p.m. Children's Liturgy of the Word will resume next Sunday, January 8th during the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Today we celebrate the Feast of the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. The feast is a celebration of Mary’s motherhood of Jesus. The title “Mother of God” is a western derivation from the Greek Theotokos, which means “God-bearer”. On this day, we are reminded of the role that the Blessed Virgin played in the plan of our salvation. Through the Holy Spirit, God the Father prepared Mary to be the dwelling place where His Son and His Spirit could dwell among men. Christ’s birth was made possible by Mary’s fiat, or sanctioning of God’s plan with her words, “Be it done to me according to thy word”. Calling Mary “Mother of God” is the highest honor we can give to her. Just as Christmas honors Jesus as the “Prince of Peace”, the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God honors Mary as the “Queen of Peace”. New Year’s Day is also designated as the “World Day of Peace”, further acknowledging the role of Mary in our hearts and in our world. May God bless you with an awesome 2017, filled with many of His special blessings.

January. Warm Hats, socks, gloves/mittens and scarves will be collected to donate to In the Image, Mel Trotter Ministries and Coopersville Cares. Start watching the sales, and a collection box will be in the Narthex. Thank you for your support.
We would like to thank our parish family for your generosity this
year with the Christmas Giving Tree. We were able to serve three different groups - Coopersville Cares, Help Pregnancy Center, and the Ferguson Apartment residents. In addition to the gifts for the Ferguson residents, our parish put on a Christmas party for them. We had an awesome group of volunteers helping at the party this year. Thank you for your gifts of time, treasure, and talent.
Your Christmas Giving Tree Team.
A Prayer for God’s Blessing in the New Year. Remember us, O God; from age
to age be our comforter. You have given us the wonder of time, blessings in days and nights, seasons and years. Bless your children at the turning of the year and fill the months ahead with the bright hope that is ours in the coming of Christ. You are our God, living and reigning, forever and ever. Amen.
