They were exceedingly astonished and said among
themselves, “Then who can be saved?” Jesus looked at
them and said, “For human beings it is impossible, but not
for God. All things are possible for God.” - Mk 10:26-27
Daily 7:30 AM Masses, Monday through Friday
All Soul’s Day—November 2nd Traditionally, the month of November has been dedicated
to prayer for the happy and peaceful repose of the souls of
the faithful departed. All Souls’ Day, November 2nd, has
been set aside in particular to commemorate our deceased
relatives and friends. Our Catholic faith calls us to pray on
behalf of those who have gone before us in death. How
good it is to remember before the Lord at Mass, the souls of
those dear to us who have died. This is true on All Souls’
Day and throughout the year. An All Souls’ Remembrance
envelope has been included in your envelope packet; others
are available at the entrances to the Church. Kindly return
them to Church in any collection before November
2nd. Our dearly departed will be remembered at our parish
on All Souls’ Day and throughout the month of November.
“Remember those who have gone before us…”
Remember, too, St. Gabriel Parish will offer a Mass of
Remembrance on Sunday, November 1st, at our 10:30
a.m. Mass for all parishioners departed this past year.
Please remember those who have gone before us
marked with the sign of faith especially, Mary
Main. We also prayer for recuperating members.
TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME OCTOBER 11, 2015
On Tuesday October 20th, as part of the
participation of Saint Gabriel Parish and Saint
Joseph Parish in the 40 Days for Life campaign,
there will be Exposition of the Blessed
Sacrament at Saint Joseph Church beginning
at 8:00 AM and concluding at 9:00 PM.
In order to ensure that exposition can safely take place,
there is a need to have two people in the Church with the
Blessed Sacrament at all times. Please sign up on the sheets
located at the main entrance to the Church.
A Farewell for Father Michael Ruminski
As announced last weekend, Father
Ruminski and I have been informed by
Archbishop Leonard Blair of his decision to
transfer Father Ruminski from his role as
Parochial Vicar at St. Gabriel and St. Joseph
Parishes to serve as Parochial Vicar at The
Cathedral of St. Joseph Parish, Hartford.
Though his time with us has been brief, we
are grateful for his ministry and presence since his
Ordination. In particular, Father’s presence to the
students, parents, and faculty at St. Gabriel School has
been most appreciated and beneficial.
Come and extend best wishes to Father Ruminski
as he assumes his new assignment. A special Coffee Hour
will be held after the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday,
October 25th. Please plan on stopping by!

“EvEning of Spirituality”
The Adult Education Committee of St. Gabriel’s Parish Council invites you to attend our “Evenings of Spirituality,”
beginning this month. At these evenings, we will be discussing the week’s Gospel, and gaining more insight into
its meaning and message. As in the past, Deacon Carl will
be presenting these evenings, which will be held once in October, once in November, and then every week during
Advent. You are welcome to come to as many as you are able to attend. Our first evening will be:
Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in St .Gabriel’s Lower Church
The evening will run from 6pm -7pm Refreshments will be offered
In the coming days, each registered household of our
Parish will receive a letter from me, inviting their participation in the 2015 Saint Gabriel Annual Collection.
Last year’s Appeal was a great success; may this year’s Appeal be likewise.
A glance at the cornerstone of St. Gabriel Church reveals
the year “1915”. This year, our Church building is
celebrating its 100th Anniversary— a milestone for this holy edifice, for sure, but also for its faithful people who
worship within its walls. It is here, within this Church, that we receive the Sacraments; it is here, that we listen to the
Word of God proclaimed and preached; it is from here that our faith is put to action through various ministries and activities.
Upon consultation with The Parish Council, it was decided
that the 100th Anniversary of our Church seems an opportune time to address some needed maintenance
issues on the building. This autumn, you will see repair work being done on the outside of the Church, as well as
inside of the vestibule. The Council also decided to form a
committee to consider options for the refurbishment of our “Church basement” into a functional and more
welcoming environment - indeed, a “Parish Hall”. I know that has been a desire of parishioners for many years.
This year’s Parish Annual Collection is an opportunity to
provide a significant and meaningful gift to your Parish on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of its
parochial Church. Your donation will help fund the slated
repairs and show support for the anticipated project of the refurbishment of the Parish Hall. Let your gift be a sign of
gratitude for the past, as well as your trust in God’s Providence.
Please consider a generous gift to the 2015 Saint Gabriel
Parish Annual Collection. Your goodness is appreciated!
