WELCOME
A warm welcome to all who have come to worship with us. If you are visiting, we are honored by your presence.
If you are interested in becoming a member, please call the rectory. Our Parish serves the needs of this
community in many ways. We offer preparation for Sacraments, education for children and adults, social
activities, assistance to those in difficulty, comfort to the sick and those who mourn a loss.
If we can be of service, please let us know. We hope you will come again soon.
For your convenience, we have blue “Let Us Know” cards in back of church.
2 Welcome to St. Clare Catholic Church
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
This weekend we celebrate the
Mystery of the Godhead Himself, The
Most Blessed Trinity. How God can
exist as three divine persons in one
God is beyond our comprehension
yet we know it must be true because
God has revealed it. This is really the
belief that makes us Christians. We
cannot call ourselves Christians if we
do not accept the truth of this
mystery. The Most Blessed Trinity is
the God of Christianity. It is very
significant that God exists in Himself
as a relationship of persons and it
gives us a deep insight into our own
human nature. We of course are
each a single person and a singe
being at the same time, and yet we
are designed to be social. One of
the hardships of the heath pandemic
has been the “social distancing” that
we’ve had to observe and for some
that has meant spending a lot of time
isolated from others. We can
certainly appreciate through all
of this how God calls us to be a
community of loving neighbors to
one another and how being socially
distant is sort of a necessary evil we
have to put up with for the sake of
restoring good heath. That tug to be
with others, to be social, is placed
within our hearts because we are
made in the image and likeness
of God; we are called to be in
relationship with others.
We have also seen this past
week how social relationships with
others can become distorted if it isn’t
lived in accord with God’s will.
Mutual respect and charity are
commanded by God to be
constitutive elements of our human
relationships. When those things are
lacking how quickly we devolve into
the chaotic and even violent. It is
said that evil is the absence of God.
If we wish to see less evil in our
communities and societies we have
to allow God to be present there.
First and foremost He must be present
in our hearts and souls. Through the
sacraments the Trinity comes to dwell
in our souls, let us make His presence
manifest in our lives by showing that
respect and charity to all people.

PARISH NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL
By now you should have received a letter from
Archbishop Robert Carlson regarding the
Archdiocesan Annual Catholic Appeal, along
with your pledge card and a return envelope.
Due to the current conditions, we will not have
your pledge cards in the back of church as usual.
The Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) drive will
start next weekend and continue for 3 weeks.
You can mail your pledge card back in the
envelope you received, or save a stamp and bring
it to church with you. Someone, hopefully, will
be there after every Mass to accept your gift or
you may simply put it in the offertory box when
entering church. Please sign and fill out your
card completely so your gift can be accurately
counted and you will not have to be contacted
for more information.
Thank you for your continued support!

Dynamic Catholic, Alive! —
Most Holy Trinity-The Triune God
I have often heard priests tell me that this
solemnity is one of the most difficult days in
the liturgical year on which to preach a good
homily. It is difficult to preach a homily on
such a central mystery of our faith like the
Trinity. What is essential to remember for all
Catholics is to simply listen to the readings and
each of the prayers today for the Mass. Within
these texts we can find spiritual insights about
the Trinity. For example, the preface for the
Mass today provides a great summary of the
Church’s teaching on the mystery of the Trinity:
“For what you have revealed to us of your glory
we believe equally of your Son and the Holy
Spirit, so that, in the confessing of the true and
eternal Godhead, you might be adored in what is
proper to each Person, their unity in substance,
and their equality in majesty.” One God in
three Persons is always there for us.

Ready for His Return
Where is that guy with the rainbow wig holding a “John
3:16” sign in the end zone at NFL football games?
Younger readers may not have any idea what I am
talking about! You used to see this guy on TV all the
time wearing “Jesus Saves” shirts and holding his sign.
Most thought he was a harmless guy, but now he is
serving multiple life sentences for taking hostages at a
hotel near LAX in 1992. His name is Rollen Stewart and
he believed — and continues to believe while in prison
— that Jesus’ second coming is imminent. His extreme
actions were meant to make people take notice and
listen to him. Now he sits behind bars, and most in the
world see his name as nothing more than an answer to
a trivia question.
It is a sad story when people hurt others or use extreme
methods in the name of God. Mr. Stewart’s belief that
simply getting people to listen to his message is the
most important step in their salvation is misguided. His
poor stewardship should stand in stark contrast to our
good stewardship. Our actions, seasoned at times with
our words, should be the evidence people need to see
the transformative power of Jesus Christ. We do believe
that he is indeed coming again. But once you have
committed yourself to him and live in his life on earth,
when he returns is not our main concern. We are ready
whenever that time comes, and hopefully, we can help
others be ready as well by our example.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son…”
—John 3:16
Is your love conditional? Is there a price others have to pay to receive your love and forgiveness? Are you generous with your time, skills, money, and possessions? If you give someone something, do you expect something in return? Do you give your time freely or do you “fit it in” when it’s convenient for you? God desires a personal relationship with us so much that He gave us His Son, unconditionally! Pray for a grateful and generous heart.
