Vision Statement Vision Statement Formed by the Word of God, nourished at the Eucharistic table, led by the Holy Spirit, and sustained by the community, we, the parishioners of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, are and will continue to be a source of hope and direction to all who are in need of the love and mercy of Christ. We will be an example of compassion and mercy, hospitality, and inclusiveness. All who come through our doors will experience welcome, warmth, harmony and belonging and know that they are “home.”

READINGS FOR SEPTEMBER 20TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Reading I – Isaiah 55:6-9 Reading II – Philippians 1:20c-24, 27a Gospel – Matthew 20:1-16a
LIFE FOCUS QUESTIONS• Today’s psalm proclaims, “The Lord is near to all who call upon
him.” In your life of faith, when have you needed to call upon the Lord the most fervently?
• St. Paul writes to the Philippians, “For me life is Christ, and death is gain.” Do you identify with this statement? Why or why not?
• How do you feel about God’s justice as portrayed in the parable of the laborers in the vineyard?
• In what ways do you try to live out Jesus’ proverb, “The last will befirst, andthefirstwillbelast”?
PASTOR’S CORNER Next Sunday is Catechetical Sunday. It is an opportunity for us as a community to ask God’s blessings on those who engage in the Ministry of Faith Formation. These include those who are involved in teaching our young people in Preschool, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, the Parish School of Religion, the Parish School, Sacramental Preparation, the EDGE Middle School Group, Athletics, High School Youth Ministry, RCIA, Adult Faith Formation Programs, Young AdultMinistry,EvangelizationMinistryandMarriagePreparation.Therearemanyopportunitiestobecomeinvolvedinthese ministries as participants, facilitators, teachers and assistants. If you haven’t already done so, please take or see our Community Connections Booklet as it describes the various ministries in this area and other areas of our parish life. The Booklet is available in the Gathering Space and on the Parish Website. We are most grateful for those who give of their time and talents in these areas! There will be a special blessing for all catechists at each of the Masses.
If you have children that have not yet registered for PSR there is still time to do so. This is especially important and necessaryforthosewhoarepreparingforFirstReconciliation,FirstCommunionandConfirmation!
Many thanks to all those who made the Drive-thru Fish Fry a great success! Once again the generosity of many makes these efforts possible. Thanks to the Knights of Columbus who have shared their experience and expertise in this effort.
God’s blessings!Father Leo Connolly

It is with great joy that we welcome our students back to school this fall! As we begin a new school year, we will also begin celebrating School Masses each Friday at 9:30 a.m. With the hybrid learning schedule, this will allow each student to attend Mass with their classmates at least twice a month. However, in light of COVID-19
restrictions and safety protocols from the Department of Education, parents and other parishioners will not be able to attend this Mass with the students.

Walking with Purpose is a Catholic women’s Bible Study open to all women. It integrates scripture with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church to point us to principles that help us manage life’s pace and pressure while living with calm and steadiness. At this time, we are only offering it through Zoom, but if there is the need to also offer an in-person group, we are open to exploring that aswell.OurbeginningdatewillbethefirstweekofOctober.The date and time will depend on the participants. HOLY LANDGOOD FRIDAY COLLECTION UPDATEDue to the pandemic, and the closure of our churches earlier this spring, the traditional Good Friday collection for the Holy Land was not taken up. If anyone is still wishing to make a donation to the Holy Land Fund, Pope Francis has extended the collection through the second weekend of October. You may put your offering in the collection boxes at Mass or make a donation through Faith Direct. There is an option on Faith Direct for the Holy Land/Good Friday collection. Thank you for your generosity.

This year, people throughout our community have turned to us for help. However, St. Cecilia can only continue to meet that need with your assistance. Your valuable online donations help us to continue our ministry to answer their call for help.We prayerfully request that you consider signing up for eGiving from your computer, smartphone or tablet and set up a recurring donation or make a one-time gift. Sign up today by visiting https://membership.faithdirect.net/OH857. Thank you for your continued support of our parish family!

• We have gluten-free hosts available. Please inform the Minister of Hospitality that one is needed. The host will be consecrated with the others. You will need to be in the Communion line for Father.
• For those with mobility issues, you may request that Communion be brought to your seat. The Minister of Hospitality will then let our Ministers of Communion know.
• We have auditory assistance devices which may be used during Mass. They amplify the sounds.
