Misa del Miercoles de Ceniza: El 6 de Marzo a las 7:00 pm en la Capilla (en Español).
Cómo vivir la Cuaresma: 1. Arrepintiéndome de mis pecados y confesándome.
2. Luchando por cambiar. 3. Haciendo sacrificios. 4. Haciendo oración.
Durante este tiempo especial de purificación, contamos con una serie de medios concretos que la Iglesia nos propone y que nos ayudan a vivir la dinámica cuaresmal. Ante todo, la vida de oración, condición indispensable para el encuentro con Dios. En la oración, si el creyente ingresa en el diálogo íntimo con el Señor, deja que la gracia divina penetre su corazón y, a semejanza de Santa María, se abre la oración del Espíritu cooperando a ella con su respuesta libre y generosa (ver Lc 1,38).
Este año, nuestra parroquia ha comprado "The Little Black Book" para su oración y reflexión de Cuaresma diarias.
Proporciona lectura y escritura reflexivas para instar a los lectores a pasar un tiempo tranquilo con el Señor, aproximadamente 6 minutos al día.
Las reflexiones comienzan el 3 de marzo de 2019 y terminan el domingo de Pascua, 21 de abril de 2019.
Los libros han sido ordenados en inglés y español y están disponibles en las salidas de la Iglesia.

This year, St. Anthony’s has purchased "The Little Black Book" for your daily Lenten prayer and reflection.
The Little Black Book provides reflective reading and writing to urge readers to spend quiet time with the Lord, approximately 6 minutes a day. The book’s reflections begin on March 3, 2019 and they end on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. The books have been ordered in English and Spanish and are available at Church exits. One per person, please.
RESOURCES FOR LENT 2019
About Fast and Abstinence: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence. The norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members from age 14 onwards. A Reflection on Lenten Fasting If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the "paschal fast" to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare ourselves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily his Resurrection.

We invite you to join us as we continue our annual Lenten Series.

Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. To fully benefit from our program, you will need both a copy of the book and a journal or notebook.
Note: Since there are a few different editions of the book, if you don’t already have your copy, be sure to order the one with the cover shown above. Bring your book and journal/notebook to each meeting.
You can purchase The Purpose Driven Life on Amazon.com. It is also available as an audio CD or a Kindle book if you prefer.
Our Lenten Series will continue on these Saturdays at 8:30 am at the Knights of Columbus Hall:
March 9th, March 16th, March 30th, April 6th, and April 13th. It has been our custom, during past series, to meet through-out the Lenten Season. Of course, if you can`t make all of these dates, and many of us can’t, do not hesitate to be with us on the days that you can attend.

1. Contact us at the parish center (764-0048) to make an ap-pointment with one of the priests, deacons, or lay staff members for a pre-Baptism interview.
2. Catholic parents are required to attend a Preparation for Baptism Class for Parents. (Godparents are welcome!)
3. Choose a date. Baptisms at St. Anthony's are celebrated at 2:00 pm on Sundays. From April through November, Baptisms are celebrated each Sunday of the month. From December through March, Baptisms are celebrated on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month.

Rev. Daniel A. O'Brien, S.J., Associate Pastor, was raised in Valley Stream and attended school there. He was active in the village band and the fire department. After graduating from R.P.I. in Troy, NY, he spent three years as a combat engineer with the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany.
Fr. O'Brien entered the Jesuits in 1983 and was ordained a priest in 1993. His primary work before his assignment to St. Anthony’s was teaching physics.

A Four Week Lenten Retreat in Daily Life in the Spirit of Ignatius of Loyola
Pope Francis reminds us in Rejoice and Be Glad: On the Call to Holiness in Today’s World that Christ calls each of us to a personal relationship with him so that we may do our part in proclaiming and living the Kingdom now in our relationships with self, family, friends, neighbors, co-workers.
The call to holiness is, as St. Ignatius expressed it, to a heartfelt knowing of God become human for us in Jesus so as to love him more intensely and follow him more closely.
The season of Lent has been given to us so that we may grow in knowing and loving Christ.
The theme for this retreat is taken from the gospel of Mark. Contemplative prayer with scripture is a sure way to a personal relationship with Christ who desires to speak to our hearts.
Each session of this retreat will center on a period of contemplative prayer with a gospel passage followed by sharing, always optional. There will be an opening prayer, music and a brief introductory reflection to each passage.
Since this is a retreat in daily life you will be given passages to pray with and reflect on during the days between sessions so as to enhance your experience of growing intimacy with Jesus in answer to his question, “But who do you say that I am?”
The retreat will be led by the Manresa Companions, formerly of Mt. Manresa Retreat House on Staten Island. The presenters are: Bob Giugliano, PhD clinical psychologist and spiritual director and Rick D’Aversa a long standing member of the recovery community who has given days of recollection and talks on Ignatian spirituality and the spirituality of the 12 steps.
