On this day we give thanks to God who has provided for us Living Bread to eat. We are in

awe of this mystery in which those who eat of this Bread and drink of this Chalice have

eternal life. What a blessing; what a gift. His Body is true food; His Blood is true drink. We

have waited a long time for this day as we open up the doors of the church. We have

been true to our hunger for this moment, this mystery, and this food from heaven. As a

community of faith, just because the doors of the church were locked, it did not deter our

hunger, our passion or our desire. The true doors to our hearts and souls have always been

open. This is what inspires me. Faith has overcome this moment.

The challenge now is what it has always been: what do we do with the energy we receive

from this Sacrament? What do we do with the Grace we receive in this Sacrament? How

does the truth of this food shape our lives? In a store we read labels and expiration

dates. This food never expires. We see labels, "best if used by.” We read dates that say

"sell by.” I am sometimes confused by this. Do they mean at midnight the day before? Do

they mean at noon of the day printed? This food never expires. The ingredient in this food

from Heaven is most powerfully sacrificial love. What do we do with this true food? Driving

down I-88 the other day I saw a pickup truck. At first glance it appeared to be a work

vehicle that had some ladders attached to the back. It was in the right lane and as I passed

it, I glanced over to the driver’s side door expecting to see the name of the company on

it. Instead there was a sign the size of the entire door which read “The Eucharist is

Essential.” It was not what I was expecting. It was evangelization. Everyone could read it

and whether they agreed or not, whether they were a believer or a non-believer, it was out

there for all to see.

We receive this Living Bread that comes down from Heaven. We trust it and we believe in it.

The question remains. How will we use its powerful Sacramental Grace to change the

world?

CARE AND SUPPORT OF RETIRED AND INFIRMED PRIESTS OF THE DIOCESE

June 20-21

The “Father’s Day Second Collection” in June was started years ago to help support the needs of our senior

priests in retirement, some of whom become sick or infirmed. This fund is also used to help care for priests that

become ill before retirement and are in need of rehab or experience a lengthy convalescence.

The collection also helps defray costs at the priest retirement home in Naperville where a number of priests

currently reside including our Pastor Emeritus, Father Dan Stempora. To dispel any confusion, the second

collection in December for the retired religious does not help our diocesan priests. That collection is for the

religious orders across the country. Each diocese is responsible for the care of their diocesan priests in

retirement.

Please use EGIVING, mail in your envelope or deposit in the collection bin if you are able to come to Mass.

Thank you for your generosity.

“My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I

love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I

cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my

heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly

to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.”

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION

DIOCESE OF JOLIET 42nd ANNUAL WEDDING ANNIVERSARY MASS

The Diocese of Joliet will hold its Forty-second Annual Wedding Anniversary Mass on Sunday, August 23, 2020

at 2:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Raymond in Joliet. If you are celebrating either your 25th or 50th

anniversary this year, please contact the parish office, 630-554-3331 or [email protected] so that we

may submit your name to the Diocese for a formal invitation.

Those celebrating over 50 year anniversaries do not receive a formal invitation, but will be able to register to

attend at a later date.

"Should any changes be made to the Wedding Anniversary Mass Date and Schedule at the Cathedral of St.

Raymond, updates will follow as soon as prudently possible".

KENDALL COUNTY COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY

The Kendall County Community Food Pantry has been able to remain open. The number of families

served each Thursday is up more than 50% in the last month.

As a result of the nationwide crisis, there are more large manufacturers pushing more and larger

donations to Food Banks.

Cash donations go a long way. For every dollar donated, the pantry can purchase $8.00 in food

from the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Donations may be mailed directly to:

God has called us to be Christian witnesses

by the precious gift of our Catholic faith

through Baptism. Just as Saint Anne had a

role in God’s plan so do each of us. We are

called to faithfully teach and live the

message of Jesus. We listen to God’s word,

grow in our understanding of it and respond

to it through outreach and service in our
