Speaker Profile Mr. B. BALAJI, TECHNICAL CONSULTANT AND TRAINER

Around four decades of experience in almost all facets of Commercial Vehicle design and development defines Mr. Balaji as a professional. Armed with a B.E. Mechanical Engineering degree from College of Engineering Guindy, tempered with a PG Diploma in Marketing Management, Balaji has served Ashok Leyland in various capacities, and Retired as General Manager, Product Development at Technical Centre located in Vellivoyal Chavadi, Chennai.. In several engineering domains ranging from vehicle design, analysis and testing, Balaji has been reckoned as a leader. His role in the then fledgling design and engineering services domain of the Hinduja Group exposed him to the Japanese way of vehicle development. In the Product Development department, Balaji has been acknowledged as a technology leader and mentor, and is a permanent member of the engineering review committees. Balaji, is regarded as a leader in various domains such as Thermal Systems, Cooling, Air Induction, HVAC, Vehicle Dynamics, Suspension and Steering Systems Engineering, Vehicle and Component testing, Product Benchmarking and Value Analysis & Value Engineering, Virtual Analysis, Homologation etc His engineering depth coupled with clarity of communication is fortified by his love to share what he knows and so it is not surprising that he has guided scores of young engineers at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Under his tutelage, a bunch of young engineers were motivated to file for three patents in Vehicle Suspension and Thermal Systems development. A Patent for "A cooling System and a Method of cooling an Engine” was granted in 2018 -(Patent No. 295044). Balaji has co-authored several technical papers in national and international conferences such as SAE, KULI user conference, NPDC and various Vehicle Expos on vehicle dynamics, thermal systems, and suspensions. He has presented papers and conducted technical sessions and workshops in SAE Top Tech Program, CVRDE, CIRT, Mahindra Research Valley and Many engineering institutions. Post Retirement, Balaji is a consultant providing Technical Consultancy services and Technical skill Development Training to Automotive OEMs, Tier I propriety suppliers, Start-ups, Management Consultancy Firms and other Engineering companies. No of Clients include 15 Companies and #5 projects have been completed. More than 900 Hrs of Technical Training has been imparted benefitting 600Plus Engineers, including 100 Hrs of Online sessions.
