SACRED HEART BULLETIN BOARD PARISH RETREAT
For those wanting to develop a closer relationship to Our Lord, we will be offering one retreat at St. Francis Springs in Greensboro, NC this Spring. The retreat will take place on April 14-16. If you would like to participate, please sign up on the lists in Nancy’s office. Nancy will have a detail sheet that you must read before enrolling that contains address, times, dates, and costs. You will be able to arrive in daylight and be home in daylight.
This retreat involves substantial silence – there is no wifi or other electronic access. Please plan to escape from their grasp while you’re there. Phones may be used in emergencies only. These are St. Francis’ guidelines. We will have a brief gathering that all retreatants must attend at Sacred Heart before the actual retreat so all your questions can be addressed. There, you’ll learn how to get the most from your retreat.
This retreat will be a wonderful time for you to spend with Our Lord in a way that is difficult to duplicate at home. Please come and refresh your spirit and rest for a while in the Lord’s arms.

Family Promise I wish to thank all the Sacred Heart parishioners who so generously gave their time and money to the Family Promise Ministry in 2019. Many of you volunteered to be evening hosts, meal providers, and overnight hosts. Even more of you made very generous donations. Family Promise is most grateful and so am I. We are pleased to tell you that your donations enabled us to purchase much-needed clothing and shoes for the families staying at the Family Promise House over the Christmas season. It was truly a great Christmas this year at Family Promise. I received several lovely thank you notes from the recipients and from Family Promise which are posted on the Family Promise page of our Sacred Heart website. Once again, it will soon be our time to serve at the Family Promise Home. We hope we may continue to depend on you for help in 2020. As you know, Sacred Heart Parish has proudly been an integral part of the Family Promise of Moore County Program for many years. Family Promise of Moore County, located at 400 Saunders Boulevard, Aberdeen, is a nonprofit agency dedicated to alleviating homelessness in Moore County. Assistance is provided in partnership with local religious congregations and organizations, a Board of Trustees, and staff. They are a 16-bed homeless shelter providing services to women and their families. Sacred Heart supports the program with funds and with volunteers. Our Parish will be hosting once again at the Family Promise house from February 17-February 20. We hope that you will be able to assist us on one of these dates as: (1) Evening Hosts: 5:30 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. (2) Overnight Hosts: 8:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. (3) Meal Preparers: Bring a meal to the Home for the families and evening hosts before 5:30 p.m. on your scheduled day; (4) Money donors: needed for purchasing breakfast and lunch foods and for other needed household and guest expenses. Kindly make your check payable to Sacred Heart Church with a designation for Family Promise and mail to me Louise Kennedy, 11 Kilbride Drive, Pinehurst, NC 28374 Please contact Louise Kennedy for more information – 295-4093 or [email protected]. Thank you.
Honor Your Mother On Mother’s Day After each Mass on February 15th & 16th and February 22nd & 23rd the Rosary Makers will be taking orders for roses that will be arranged on the altar in honor of your mother, living or deceased. In addition, on Mother’s Day, your mother’s name will appear in an insert in the Sunday Bulletin. The cost of a rose is $5.00. Please read the insert in today’s bulletin for details and order forms to be used. Checks may be made payable to Sacred Heart Church. Please write Rosary Makers or Roses in the memo line. All proceeds will go for the purchase of supplies for our
military packages and Rosary making supplies. This is
the only fund raiser for the benefit of the military pack-
ages that are sent to our service men and women who
are serving overseas. To date, more than 6600 packages
have been sent.
Adult /Child Adult/ Parent Discussions
Fr. Forbes and Chaplain Helton have noticed that a
number of pastoral issues needing attention involve some
form of family discord between adult children and their
parents.
Please join us at 2 pm this coming Wednesday
(February 12) in the Church Family Room. If time is
an issue for you, please email Chaplain Helton and we’ll
arrange an additional evening for another date.
The problem may arise on the other side of the coin too.
You, as an adult child, may have a parent that drives but
shouldn’t. Or, they’re developing physical or cognitive
difficulties.

DON’T MISS THIS ONE! WHAT? A Spiritual and Cultural Journey Fatima, Barcelona and Lourdes ** WHEN? September 20th to September 29th, 2020 WHY? Why Not! This coming September, join Fr. John Forbes and Deacon Mark Westrick as they lead pilgrims on an extraordinary spiritual and cultural journey through three countries... Imagine being in Fatima where Mary appeared to the three shepherd children (Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia) in 1917 and visit the site of their baptisms. Travel to see the magnificent Cathedral of St. Mary in Burgos Spain and visit the medieval city of Carcassonne. Tour the 12th century Monastery of Santa Maria Real de las Huelgas and see the great Pyrenees Mountains. We will then visit Lourdes, France, where the Virgin Mary visited St. Bernadette 18 times in 1858. Enjoy a walking tour of the town and participate in a candlelight procession. Spend time in Boly Mill, the birthplace of St. Bernadette and see “Cachot”, and the parish church that houses the baptismal font of the Saint. Explore the medieval city of Carcassonne and experience it all while enjoying our expert guides and world class accommodations. To be a part of this amazing trip, register as soon as possible as space is limited. Don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity. For more information, contact Deacon Mark [email protected] or by calling 919-499-3772.
Respect for Life Announcement of Events: For the year, 2020, we will join with other parishes in North Carolina by attending Mass with these intentions and intercessions on the First Saturday of each month at 8am Mass. The intention of the Mass will be that as Catholics we will embrace a culture of life that nurtures, supports and protects mothers (and fathers) and for the healing and reconciliation for all those affected by abortion. #RESPECTLIFE. Please join in solidarity and accompany this Mass intention to END ABORTION IN NORTH CAROLINA with fervent prayer & fasting. Following each Mass, we will be praying the Rosary at Tufts Park, in Downtown Pinehurst. In addition, I want to thank all that prayed for us as we went to Raleigh for the March for Life on, Saturday, January 18th and for all of us that took the bus to Washington DC to show a presence to Stop Abortion and preserve all LIFE on Friday, January 24th March for Life. We were amongst over 500,000 people there marching but really, we were as one for all of LIFE! Life Care Pregnancy Center- is almost ready to open its new center in downtown Carthage. Plan now to volunteer and help women (and men) choosing life for their unborn babies. Contact me if you’re interested. On Saturday, February 22nd there will be a Retreat from 9a-3p at Capodanno High School with multiple speakers on abortion, human-trafficking, etc. Plan to be part of the solution at 4363 US Highway 1, Vass. 40 Days for Life Campaign- will be starting on Ash Wednesday, February 26th to April 5th, we will meet to pray for justice for the unborn and all involved outside the Planned Parenthood in Fayetteville on Saturdays.
