ST. VINCENT DEPAUL MEETING Tuesday, April 11th at 10:00am in the Parish Ministry Office

On this fourth Sunday of Lent, we continue the Rite of the Scrutinies we began last week in preparation for the Easter Vigil. The Gospel focuses on Jesus curing the blind man. And while we think of this as a great medical healing, Jesus uses this opportunity to expand on the topic of blindness. It is more than just eye sight that is cured, but allowing us to see God and all the wonderful things He has done for us. Let us join with Andrea and Gail as we ask Christ to heal us of our spiritual blindness and open our minds and hearts to Him. Use this Lenten opportunity to sharpen our eye-sight to Christ. As a community we need to continue our support and prayers for Andrea, Gail and their families as they move closer to the Easter Sacraments.

BEREAVEMENT MEETING The next Bereavement Meeting is on Wednesday, April 12th from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. We meet in the Parish Ministry Office which is located in the convent basement. Enter through the convent gate on 77th Av-enue and proceed to the convent back door that is on street level and has a sign indicating PARISH MINIS-

TRIES. Our phone number is 718-821-3285.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK MS. JOANNE GANGI

On Monday, the Robotics Club will have their last meeting of this school year. Last month, the Robotics Club, Team FLLASH (First Lego League at Sacred Heart) competed at the semi-finals. It's a very exciting and intense day. Judg-ing began after Opening Ceremonies. The team demon-strated their presentation skills and robot performance. Alt-hough we didn't come away with a trophy, the students did an amazing job and it was a wonderful day and a great learning experience. I have to thank the coaches Mr. Huber and Mr. Mezic for all their hard work and dedication. Also a big thank you to Mrs. Huber and Mrs. Lee who helped the students prepare their research project.. This week we begin New York State Testing in ELA. Stu-dents in grades 4, 6, and 8 will take part on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. It is important that students be present during those days. Although we do schedule make-ups, it is more advantageous to the student to take the test with their peers. Preparation for these tests is imperative for students to perform well. Preparation includes getting enough sleep each night before the tests and eating a healthy breakfast prior to coming to school each morning. On Monday and Tuesday, students in grades 2 – 8 will at-tend penance for Lent. There is a meeting on Wednesday evening for parents of our seventh graders who are preparing to receive the sacra-ment of confirmation next year. The meeting will take place in church at 7:30 pm Spring photos will be taken on Thursday. Parents may choose what students will wear for these photos. Keep in mind school regulations for appropriate attire, including footwear. Evening appointments for Report Card distribution will take place on Thursday from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
