Weekly Calendar
Dear Friends,
I’m writing this letter on Tuesday, October 22, which is the Feast Day of St. John Paul II. As we get ready to celebrate our annual “Saints Alive” event this Wednesday evening (October 30th) right after the 5:15 pm Mass, I can’t help but think what a hero St. John Paul II was. His life was definitely one of heroic virtue, and his example of faith under pressure and hope in the face of incredibly challenging times is one from which we can all learn in our present day. And that’s the beauty of the “Saints Alive” event! There is such a great “cloud of witnesses,” holy heroes who have gone before us and shown that real holiness is possible, even in our fallen world. Come on out Wednesday and listen to the presentations by our Confirmation Students on the Saints that have inspired them. Enjoy the happy atmosphere as we rejoice in our collected heritage of admiring these amazing women and men that we know to be in heaven. Then (for all of us folks who don’t get to dress up anymore), think about which Saints inspire you; even if you don’t get to dress up like them for a night, think of the ways you might imitate the virtues of your favorite Saints in your daily life. Even though our times are often shrouded in darkness, remember the words of that recent holy hero, St. John Paul II: “Do not be afraid!”
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. John

We are asking our parish family to support this effort and consider sponsoring a Bible. Bible costs are $15.00 each. If you are interested in sponsoring one or more bibles, please see Mimi Medrano in the church office where she can collect your donation and fill out a form to ensure proper tax documentation is filed with the church. Thank you for considering supporting our religion classes and students of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School. If you have questions, please contact Michael Becker at [email protected].

SCHOOL NEWS… What’s up with the weather?
Our 5th graders visited Horizon’s Unlimited for a
lesson called “Weather Under the Dome”. Our
students learned about the atmosphere with several
crazy fun experiments and watched a really cool
movie about major weather events on Horizon’s
enormous dome screen. Then real me - our
students tracked weather data inside, outside and in
the rainforest. Thank You Horizon’s for an incredible

Leadership
Lesson ONE: TEAMWORK makes
the DREAM work!
You have to take the
"army" with you!
Our students
learned about chain
reac ons - their
teams needed to
work together and
they all needed to be
working as one.
Guess what happens
If someone is off?
The team will
crumble!
Leadership Lesson TWO: You need to think crea vely
and outside the box. There is NOT always a set of
direc ons to follow.
Leadership Lesson THREE: Be kind, pa ent, and helpful.
Remember the team has to succeed together.
Successful and effec ve leaders are virtuous.
Leadership Lesson FOUR: Learn to listen. It can be hard
to make progress if everyone is talking.
A super day of learning - teamwork, rela onship
building, and fun!
