Steinbach United Church

“Isn't God the one who urges us to "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord"? Why do we always think that means singing? Seems to me the most obvious joyful sound on earth is laughter... I've seen folks quote verses like "Rejoice in the Lord always" while their faces look like they just buried a rich uncle who willed everything to his pregnant guinea pig. Something is missing.”

Charles R. Swindoll

Spring is Springing

These are the days of change. The winter of our discontent is being replaced by the blessing and benefits of an emerging new reality. Where we imagined the future to hold more of the same, we are delighted to catch a glimpse of a bright prospect for each of us and all of us. The only requirement is that we be willing to let go of what was. Until we do so, first personally and then in and through all of our relations, our hope remains as a seed that has not yet fallen into the ground and died. Such a seed is rich with potential but not yet able to grow and produce the good for which all peoples on our planet hunger and thirst.

Are you able to imagine yourself, with all of your abilities and resources, as a member of a faith animated team dedicated to making a difference at home, in the neighbourhood and in the world? Are you prepared to embrace the practice of care by which you will discover the fullness of your being in the heart of God? If you are not yet ready to answer yes to such questions, are you prepared to support those who have answered and made the turn away from the way of this world and towards the way of Jesus?
