1.0 RZ20 Central Monitoring and e-mail on alert instruction

This document describes how to configure central monitoring and e-mail on alert.

2.0 RZ20 Central Monitoring

First of all you have to create the RFC connections on the Central system. Go to transactionSM59 and create the RFC destinations Analyze and collect data. Use Solution Manager as thecentral system; if solution manager is not available in the landscape you should use theProduction environment as the Central system.

Start to create <SID>_RZ20_ANALYZE RFC connection of type 3. SID should be the remotesystem which you want to monitor centrally. Use the following description for the analyze RFCdestination: RFC destination for executing the analysis method. Save the destination. Enter

the target host and the system number and save the destination again.

Click on the Logon/Security tab and fill in the logon information. Enter the default logon client anduse the user saptcc. Enter the password for the user saptcc and save the destination again.

Finally test the connection.

Create the collect RFC destination. Run transaction SM59 and create the RFC destination. Fill in

the RFC destination <SID>_RZ20_COLLECT. The RFC connection should be of type 3. Thedescription should be: RFC destination for data collection. Save the destination. Fill in theremote target host and system number and save the destination again.

Open the tab page Logon/Security. Use the default client as the log on client and use the user CSMREG. The password should be ferrari3. Finally save the destination and test the connection.

2.1 Create CSMREG User on the remote system

Create the CSMREG User on the system which you want to monitor centrally, use transactionRZ21. Go to technical infrastructure, configure central system and create CSMREG user. Use thepassword ferrari3.

2.2 Table ALSYSTEMS

Create an entry for the systems you want to monitor on the central system in table ALSYSTEMS.Run transaction RZ21. Go to Technical infrastructure, create remote monitoring entry.

4

Enter the Target system ID and the RFC destinations of the remote system. Target ID nameconvention is <SID>_RZ20. Enter the RFC destination for the data collecting and the executing Analysis Method. And save the entries.

2.2 Create Monitor Set

Default name for the monitor set should be NL <CUSTOMER> <SID>. Run transaction RZ20, goto extras and activate maintenance function. Create a new monitor set, use the standard nameconvention. Create the monitor set under the folder my favorites.

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/rz20-e-mail-on-alert-instruction 6/29

Now you can start to create a new monitor (Virtual Node) in the monitor set and use the RZ20template to define the MTE’s and the thresholds. You should use the <SID>_RZ20 selectableMTE to create the virtual nodes you want to define. See screenshot below:

2.3 Create Monitor in Monitor Set

Use the template RZ20 which describes the default monitors (Virtual Nodes) which should becreated in generally. The template RZ20 can be found on the IMS$ in the folder template RZ20.

Click on the monitor set and create a new monitor (Virtual Node).

You are now in the screen generate monitor design; click on new monitor and create a (VirtualNode).

Continue and edit the name Database.

Repeat these steps for the virtual node Operating system and the Dialog_<Instance Name>. Nowyou have created the three virtual nodes. Save the entries and the following pop up appears.

Edit the following name Quick Win System Check and continue. Now you have created themonitor and the virtual nodes which belong to this monitor. See screenshot below.

Change the monitor and search for the MTE which you want to add to the virtual node. For example if you want to add the MTE Update Errors to the virtual node Dialog_<Instance Name>,expand the virtual node Dialog_<Instance Name> and expand the selectable MTE and the SID.

Repeat these steps for all MTE’s you want to add to the monitor and the virtual nodeDialog_<Instance_Name>. Save the monitor and repeat these steps for the virtual node Database

and Operating System.

2.4 Set Thresholds on MTE

When finished creating the virtual nodes in the monitor set, you should set the thresholds, according to the Template RZ20 for any MTE if applicable. For example if you would like to setthe Thresholds for the MTE R3SpoolWaitTime; double click on the virtual nodeDialog_<Instance_Name>, click on the MTE Waittime and click on properties. The followingscreen is displayed:
