Slavery

• It is estimated that over for centuries 12 million Africans were forced in to slavery

• It is also speculated that Africa lost millions f it strongest men and women during the slave trade that is why Africa is under developed

Imperialism

• Much of the land was taken by other countries.

• Little land belonged to native Africans.

• Tutsi- a term that referred to the elite group.

• Hutu- referred to a person who was originally a subordinate or follower of a more powerful person.

• Hutu and the Tutsi settled the land of Rwanda over 2 thousand years

• The Hutu and Tutsi were based off of lineage and joined together in the building of Rwanda.

• Hutu and Tutsi share common language, religious and philosophical beliefs and culture (Dance, songs, and poetry).

• In 1994 Rwanda was the most densely populated nation on the African continent

Genocide.

And for some years there was some peace

in Africa

Then the Darfur genocide began.

Since 2003…..

Over 400,000 killed

People have been left depended on help from other nations.

Millions are forced to flee

4 years later the genocide continues.
