BIMRW Smith & Co. has full in-house Building Information Modeling (BIM) capability by utilizing a program called Revit. These 3D models allow Architects, Engineers, Contractors, and Owners to view a project’s key physical and functional characteristics before it is built. With our CAD department having in-house BIM capability, we are able to produce the equipment layout in 3D at the schematic design phase using Revit, coordinate with other trades using Navisworks, and produce a visualization in 3DS Max. These tools allow us to identify conflicts such as equipment blocking window and floor drains hitting structural beams. By identifying these issues so early in the design process, it allows all stakeholders in the project to make the necessary adjustments before any construction begins, keeping the project on track.
