With the summer almost here, we start to think about boating, fishing, heat, monsoons and so many other things. For several of our members, their thoughts are preparing for the 2015 Great Race. Representing ARC and Sun City West will be Tom Jones and his son Rod in their 1960 Ford, Gordon Monten and Lauren Matley will be there in Gordon’s 1938 Buick convertible, and Don Kloth will race this year with his grandson, Chris Kloth, in his 1930 Ford Speedster. Well, Summer is upon us and the temperatures are in the 100's. Great time to get out of SCW and go to cooler areas of the country. Hope all of you who left SCW and have been traveling are safe and enjoying your destinations. We will continue to have the Monday Morning "Cars, Coffee & Conversation" at Memo's each week during the Summer even if only one or two meet there. This will give anyone interested in our club a chance to have a set meeting place. That said, it would be wonderful if we had our own building to meet in during the year. The Rec Center is still waiting on the permits to start construction. I wish I had better news and a start date to give you, but I do not. I have even asked Clint Hickman, local county official, to help move this forward. Hopefully, by the time you return to SCW in the Fall, we will be seeing our building rise and under construction.

I sent out an email regarding the show on the History channel: Lost in Transmission. If anyone is interested in contacting the Associate Producer, Andrew Ward, please do so. I sent in a

request to use my 1932 Ford Model B as a car to fix up and was able to have a Skype interview with Andrew. See the following: Lost in Transmission is now casting! Automotive aficionado and TOP GEAR co-host, Rutledge Wood, and fellow car fanatic, George Flanigen, are hitting the road with one mission: rescue and restore America's most under-appreciated classic cars. Do you have a rare ride from the past that you need to get back on the road to live another day? Email [email protected]: 1. Name and Age 2. Location 3.Contact info 4. Car make & model 5. Pictures of you and the car interior and exterior 6. Quick bio: What's your story? What needs to be done to the car? Where did you buy the car? What it would mean to you to get it on the road again? Good luck and stay safe this Summer!

ARC VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

It’s more fun to be an ARC member if you are involved. There are many opportunities at ARC and we hope you will consider volunteering.

CORVETTE RAFFLE Volunteers are needed to be a chase vehicle to follow the Corvette to events where raffle tickets are sold. There is no room in the Corvette to haul equipment for selling the tickets so another vehicle is needed. In addition, several people are needed to handle the ticket sales. Contact Tom Jones at 503-887-3430.

CAR SHOW RAFFLE Help is needed to solicit raffle prizes for the 2016 Car Show. Help in the Raffle Booth at the Car Show is also needed. Contact Paul Burrier at 704-497-2064.

ARC ANGELS The Angels help members of the community by putting them in contact with local services for repairs, appraisals, and other car needs. Contact Randy Robinson if you can help. 623-556-1235 home, or 206-819-8655 cell.

RUSTY NUTS Reporters are needed to provide stories for the Rusty Nuts. You don’t have to be a journalist (your editor is not). I like to keep the articles about our members - like interesting things they have been doing or their new rides. I think (hope) this keeps Rusty Nuts interesting for all members. If you can help, contact Pat Clark at 314-882-6464 or [email protected]. You don’t have to work hard and it is fun. Thanks. Hope to hear from you.

Hope to see you there.
