A. MOST POPULAR DONKEYSAFARI&VILLAGECULTURENIGHT from Limassol & Pafos Discover Traditional Cypriot Country Life The journey unfolds through quaint villages and picturesque orange groves to the ’Xeros‘ river valley, near the village of Kelokedara, which is the perfect place for nature lovers. Located beside the river is the ’Argonaftis Donkey farm’ - a haven for the Cyprus donkey that has been created for these gentle creatures to live and reproduce, under veterinary supervision and care. The farm itself also serves as an open museum of folk art and rural life on the island. Upon arrival you will be given the warmest of welcomes and can then sample various traditional products; pure and straight from Cyprus’ natural bounty. Taste village wine, the spirit Zivania, the sweet dessert wine Commandaria, carob syrup and honey, and try some local delicacies such as Halloumi cheese, olives, local oven bread, loukoumia sweets and other delights. Whilst enjoying this feast of flavours and sensations, you can stroll around the stone buildings and visit the small Museum of Agricultural Art, where you can learn how Cypriots originally used to make wine, Zivania and olive oil many years ago. A fantastic donkey ride through the peaceful countryside is next, under the watchful supervision of our professional staff to ensure both your comfort and safety. The ride will take you to the abandoned 14th Century Monastery, ‘Panayia tou Sindi’, which has been expertly restored by UNESCO. In 1997 this project was granted the prestigious EUROPA NOSTRA award and was recognised as a World Cultural Heritage monument. During this stop, there is time to enjoy the tranquillity of area, along with some seasonal fruit. A unique opportunity to experience a bygone era is also available with special rides on an authentic Bedford ‘village bus’ that is still in action to this day. Back on the farm, a delicious BBQ meal awaits you, complete with home-cooked specialities, all to be washed down with wine, Zivania (fire water) and juice for the children. When you have had your fill, our dance team will perform a show of Cypriot folk dancing and music, as well as international music. You can sit back and enjoy the entertainment, or join in the folk dances, including the ‘Syrtaki’ ritual. B. SIGHTSEEING PAPHOS – KOURION Today will be spent discovering the Legends and History of one of the most beautiful parts of Cyprus. Our first stop en-route to Paphos will be at the ancient city of Kourion, an impressive and unspoilt site perched high on the cliff top. Admire the famous Greco-Roman Theatre and Mosaics and enjoy the dazzling view. Our next stop will be at Aphrodite’s Rock where, according to legend, the Goddess of Love and Beauty was born from the foam of the sea. Here, you may have a quick swim or chill by the seashore. Then join us in discovering the remarkable history of Paphos Town which UNESCO awarded a member of the coveted group, ‘World Heritage Cities’. In ‘Kato’ (meaning ‘Lower’) Paphos we will pass by the Catacombs of St. Solomoni and see the Pillar of St. Paul. Then we will visit the House of Dionysos and admire a series of beautifully preserved mosaics depicting scenes from Greek Mythology. Ample time will be given for lunch and to wander around the Harbour Area. Finally, on our return, we pass the 9th Century Basilica of Ayia Paraskevi and we will stop at Yeroskipou village to sample the famous Paphos Delicacy ‘Loukoumia’. Note: For clients staying in Paphos, the excursion will end at Paphos Port. ПАФОС – КУРИОН Сегодня мы познакомимся с историей и легендами одного из красивейших городов Кипра. У Вас будет возможность погулять, пофотографировать и искупаться в водах, которые приносят молодость и красоту (остановка 30 минут). По легенде, именно здесь Богиня Любви и Красоты вышла из пены морской. Удивительная история древней столицы Кипра поразит Вас. Город не зря внесен в список Мирового Культурного Наследия ЮНЕСКО. В “Като Пафосе” мы посетим катакомбы Святой Соломонии и проедем мимо колонны Святого Павла. Затем осмотрим дом Диониса - римскую виллу с великолепно сохранившимися напольными мозаиками, сюжет которых повествует о древних героях греческих мифов. После обеда у вас будет возможность побродить по набережной Пафоса. На обратном пути, миновав базилику Святой Прасковьи (9 век), мы остановимся в деревне Йероскипу, где можно попробовать и приобрести кипрские сладости “лукумия”. Обед не включен в стоимость. Для гостей из Пафоса экскурсия заканчивается в порту Пафоса. Miracle Saints - LEFKOSIA – LARNACA & LEFKARA Our day will begin with morning drive to the village of Lefkara, which is famous for handmade lace known as ‘Lefkaritika’, and also its silverware. It is said that Leonardo Da Vinci visited the village and bought an altar cloth here which he donated to the Milan Cathedral. Travelling through pine-covered mountains, we reach Santa (Ayia) Thekla Monastery, a Nunnery founded by Santa (Ayia) Eleni (mother of Emperor Constantine). We will have a chance to wash our faces in the Holy Spring Water, said to help prevent eye and skin illnesses. Next stop will be at Meniko village where we will visit the church of St Kyprianos dating from the 13th Century. There you will have the opportunity to embrace the icon or to venerate the relics of the saint and ask for healing. On request the priest will recite a prayer for the suspension of any spell put on you. The prayer will protect you against the evil eye, evil words and envy. You will also be able to wash your hands and face in the holy water that gushes forth next to the church. After we will go to see the only one divided Capital in the world, ‘Lefkosia’, situated in the centre of the Island, is the ideal City for you to find your holiday bargains! Driving along the Green Line, the capital’s dividing borderline and proceed to the picturesque old quarter of “Laiki Yitonia” where, you will have time for lunch and a stroll around the charming winding alleys lined with numerous traditional houses, shops and galleries. Our tour continues to Larnaca where we will visit St. Lazarus church, located in the heart of the old city. The church dates back from the 9th century and is one of the oldest in Cyprus. There you can see the tomb of the saint who lived in Kition after his resurrection by Christ. You will have chance to spend some time browsing around the shops in the old town. Miracle Saints - LEFKOSIA – LARNACA & LEFKARA Чудотворные Святые – НИКОСИЯ – ЛАРНАКА И ЛЕФКАРА Ранним утром мы отправимся в деревню Лефкара, которая известна знаменитыми, ручной работы кружевами «Лефкаритика» и изделиями из серебра. Говорят что сам Леонардо Да Винчи посещал Лефкару где приобрёл кружева и полотна которые предназначались для украшения Миланского Собора. Продолжая наш путь через горные сосновые массивы, мы доберёмся в Монастырь Святой Фёклы (Agia Thekla Monastery), который по преданию в 4м веке был основан Святой Равноапостольной Царицей Еленой (Agia Elena), матерью римского Императора Константина. Обязательно воспользуйтесь возможностью омыть ваше лицо водой Святого Источника, которая лечит верующих и защищает от глазных и кожных заболеваний. Следующую остановку мы сделаем в деревне Менико и посетим церковь Святого Киприана (St. Kyprianos), основанную в 13 веке. Здесь Вы сможете поклониться Иконе Святых Великомучеников Киприана и Устиньи, поклониться мощам святого и попросить исцеления. По Вашей просьбе, Батюшка прочтет над вами молитву от порчи и сглаза, которая защитит Вас от злого ока, заговора и зависти. BITTER LEMON – KERYNIA Northern Cyprus Our morning drive towards Nicosia, the Island’s Capital, brings us to the “Green Line,” the political divider between the Republic of Cyprus and the Northern Region of the Island - an area occupied by Turkey since 1974. We make the routine crossing and enter into the less developed, yet supremely beautiful landscape of the Pentadaktylos, meaning ‘Five Fingers,’ Mountain Range. For our first stop in the North, our bus climbs to the top of a spectacular peak where we tour the grounds of St Hilarion Castle, an impressive stone-built fortress, dating back to the 8th-10th Century which offers some of the best views over Kyrenia and the Northern coastline. Our next visit is to the must-see Bellapais Abbey, situated in the village of Bellapais and made famous in the novel Bitter Lemons by Lawrence Durrell. This monastery is considered one of the best-preserved examples of Gothic Architecture on the island and is built almost entirely out of local limestone. The first settlers in the Abbey (whose First Monastic Phase was constructed in 1198-1205) were the priests of the Augustinian order who had migrated from Jerusalem. Much of the day will be devoted to exploring the picturesque town of Kyrenia with its horseshoe-shaped Harbour, its spectacular Medieval Castle, and its maze of narrow streets with finely preserved stone houses. The most important monument inside the town is the Kyrenia Castle Museum, which houses, amongst other exhibits, the famous Kyrenia Shipwreck. This wooden ship dates to cir.300 BC and was raised up from the seabed and preserved in a special environmentally controlled chamber, where it is proudly displayed today as the oldest shipwreck ever brought out of the water. During the day, ample time will be given for lunch and coffee breaks and you will be able to explore the picturesque Harbour of Kyrenia, before we make our way back across the Green Line and onwards to your Hotel. Это первый католический монастырь на Кипре, основанный орденом августинцев в начале 13 века. Оттуда мы увидим город Кериния и северное побережье Кипра. Вы сможете пообедать в ближайшем ресторанчике, и далее мы продолжим наш путь в направлении Керинии, города с белоснежными домами, средневековой крепостью и живописной бухтой в форме подковы, напоминающей прибрежный город на юге Франции. Through Pelendri we continue our journey to Picturesque Phini village with its famous Pilavakis pottery museum. For many centuries Phini potters were supplying all sorts of pottery to a big part of Cyprus. Time for lunch with traditional Cypriot dishes in a local Tavern. After we visit the delights workshop where you can sample delights in various flavors. Leaving Phini behind we continue lower in the Troodos Mountains and travel through forest and beautiful vineyards to the new Gerolemo winery in a scenic location near Omodos village. After a guided tour, we enjoy a tasting, one of the ancient offerings to the Gods – wine. In Omodos we visit the Holy Cross monastery, blessed by Saint Helena. Important relics are housed in the monastery’s museum. We journey deep inside the Paphos hinterland to visit Khrysoroyiatissa Monastery, often described as “the most quaint and picturesque Monastery on the Island.” We’ll tour the old stone complex, visit the famous church and newly-built Museum, and perhaps observe some modern Icon-painting that sometimes occurs here. We’ll then move on to see Pano Panayia, the village home to one of Cyprus’ most famous modern historical figures, Archbishop Markarios III. Into the deep Paphos Forest we go! We take the road less travelled to reach a wonderfully serene and majestic spot in the Troodos Mountains called Cedar Valley. You can experience the magic of Cyprus’ largest endemic tree, the Cyprus Cedar (cedrus brevifolia). Learn the story of these unique trees as you enjoy a short walk and breathe in the cleanest air on the Island! A short stop at the famous Monastery of Kykkos, which was built in 1092 and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Trek to Platys: A non-strenuous, yet satisfying mini-trek along well-shaded forest tracks through young shoots of pine. On rare occasions, the elusive Cyprus Moufflon has been sighted in this area. (This is an optional 30-min walk.) Kelephos Bridge: This venerable stone bridge dates to the Venetian period and spans the source area of the Dhiarizos (“Two Roots”) river. Sometimes wild trout can be seen in the clear waters beneath the bridge. A traditional village winery for free wine tasting and an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the fascinating winemaking process. Omodhos Village: We end the day with a stop at this quintessential Cypriot village, famous for it’s narrow streets, stone architecture, and the Timios Stavros Monastery (where, it is said, a piece of the rope used to tie Christ to the cross is still kept.). QUAD BIKE SAFARI East Coast (16:00 - 23:00) Join this adventure expedition on self driven Quad Bikes, a quench to every adventurer’s thirst which alone can raise your adrenaline rush. This guided tour aims to show you the inherent beauty of Cyprus and the interesting features of the south-eastern coast of our island. It all starts in the Argonaftis Animal Park, located next to the Achna Dam water reservoir. Upon arrival to the park you will be welcomed according to the Cypriot tradition with coffee, traditional halloumi cheese, olives and bread. After being briefed with the rules of safety and operating procedures and issued with your safety gear, you can take control of your fully automatic quad bike. We will start on a flat tarmac surface so you can get the feel of the handling of the ATV and then you will progress on to the dirt tracks around the Achna dam with all its undulations and turns. When your guides feel satisfied that everyone is confident, you will be led off riding through challenging trails on a 2,5 hours tour giving ample time to explore the beautiful countryside in the area called “Red villages”. F.JEEPSAFARI TROODOS JEEP SAFARI An explorer’s trip through the Green heart of Cyprus in a 4x4 Landrover defender. We begin our journey traveling through rugged hills and valleys, various picturesque villages & Pine forests reaching some of the most remote places on the Island. A thrilling drive towards Platres will bring us to the waterfalls, located in a Cypriot paradise with lush vegetation, cool spring waters and gorgeous aromas. The tour continues to the Island's highest peak, Mount Olympus. At an altitude of 1951 meters, we stand on the throne of the Ancient Gods and marvel at the panoramic views. Our next stop will be for a relaxing lunch at a traditional mountain village. We continue west of Pedoulas village until we arrive at the famous Kykkos Monastery which houses the Icon of the Virgin Mary painted by St. Luke. Then we head for a wine-producing village where we will have our last coffee break before making our way back to your hotel. SCUBA DIVING – INTRODIVE ON REQUEST If you have always wanted to dive or you are curious to discover what it is all about, here is your chance to find out firsthand! Before the introductory dive, qualified instructors will explain to you the theory of diving and the basic knowledge required, followed by a fitting of all the scuba equipment you will use. You are then ready for your first dive, which will be to a depth of about 3 meters and will last for about 30 minutes. The second introductory dive will be from a boat and up to a depth of 6 to 10 meters. This will give you the opportunity to practice everything you have learned. Qualified divers can participate in various wreck (Zenovia), reef and sea cave dives. Days and prices are provided on request. *Please note that for all scuba dives, the last dive should be finished at least 12 hours before any flight due to health (decompression) and safety reasons.
