VIRTUAL RUSH CONFERENCE SERIES As the region’s first Level 1 Comprehensive Stroke center, we take the responsibility of providing quality Stroke care and resources for our community very seriously. As part of these efforts, Upstate Comprehensive Stroke Center is excited to Offer our first Virtual RUSH Conference Series Continuing education credits will be offered for attendance and survey completion. This activity is intended for ED physicians, community neurologists, primary care providers, nursing, and therapies. Learning objectives include: • Identify risk factors for acute ischemic stroke/hemorrhagic stroke • Review updated standards of acute management for stroke • Review post-acute care therapy modalities • Review updated guidelines for secondary risk reduction after stroke TO REGISTER FOR VIRTUAL CONFERENCES: UPSTATE.EDU/STROKE/RUSH2020 Wed., July 22 Noon -1 PM Stroke and COVID Julius Gene S Latorre, MD, MPH, FAAN, FAHA, FNCS Dr. Latorre is an Associate Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Upstate University Hospital, Chief, Cerebrovascular Division, Dept of Neurology, Director, Neurocritical Care Service, Director, Upstate Comprehensive Stroke Center, Program Director, Neurocritical Care Fellowship. Dr. Latorre has been leading stroke care at Upstate and in the region. Dr. Latorre is delighted to kick-off the inaugural Virtual RUSH series with an update on COVID-19 and stroke. Stroke in the Young Hesham Masoud MD, MPH Dr. Masoud is assistant professor of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Radiology at Upstate. He is fellowship trained in Vascular Neurology and Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology, at Boston Medical Center. Wed., Aug. 26 Noon -1 PM Transcarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR): A Safer Way to Stent Michael J. Costanza, MD, FACS Dr. Costanza went to college at Harvard University and medical school at Ohio State University. He completed his general surgery residency at University of Tennessee in Knoxville and vascular fellowship at University of Maryland. Dr. Costanza has been on faculty at Upstate since 2004, currently serving as the interim chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery at Upstate and has been the lead physician in vascular surgery at the Syracuse VA since 2016. Endovascular Treatment of Wide Neck Bifurcation Aneurysms Grahame Gould MD, FAANS Dr. Gould has been a Neurosurgeon at Upstate since 2015, specializing in the treatment of cerebrovascular disease. Wed., Sept. 23 Noon -1 PM Post-Discharge Cardiac Monitoring Anveet Singh MD Dr. Singh is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and practices at the University Cardiovascular Group of Syracuse. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Cardiology at Upstate. Community Hospital-based Primary Stroke Program and Utilization of Telestroke Fahed Saada, MD Dr. Saada completed his internal medicine internship at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio; a residency in neurology at University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, Florida; and a clinical neurophysiology fellowship at University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY. Dr. Saada is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Saada is the vice chair in internal medicine and the stroke program director at St. Joseph's Hospital.
