Using standards to overcome complexity

Standards and best practices influence key performance indicators (KPI) and reduce operating costs.

At the same time, they increase:

 Availability

 Business process performance

 Data consistency and transparency

 Maintainability and upgradeability

Including individual enhancements by customers and partners

Although applications have become easier to use, IT landscapes have become more complex.

Untapped potential SAP standards for solution operations

100 = E2E solution standards

0 = No E2E solution standards

Actual situation (customer)

Potential of SAP E2E

solution standards

1 User support: User support ensures that users work with the IT landscape as efficiently as possible to do

their daily tasks. If problems occur, the users can speak to competent advisors who can quickly solve the

problem.

2 Change management: Change management is used to plan, manage, and carry out changes. By using

standardized processes (for each change required), the risk is kept to a minimum. Suitable tools are

available for these standardized processes,

3 SAP user management: The most important interface between departments and IT is the application

management organization. Users can help themselves to IT services for numerous different tasks –

planning the solution landscape to the actual implementation; processing change requests from

departments; documentation standards; training and certification; and management-level reporting. The

SAP Application Management package consists of three main elements, which support the management of

application services and ensure operations run smoothly.

4 Business process operations: Business process operations deals with fundamental business processes.

Interruptions to these processes can lead to heavy financial losses and need to be prevented. The business

process operations component has four main elements, which manage your dataflow and therefore ensure

your operations run smoothly.

5SAP technical operations: SAP technical operations comprises all the activities for managing and

monitoring the IT landscape to maintain and operate the application landscape. It focuses on system

administration and system monitoring.
