o You will need scissors, markers, crayons or color pencils,glue and a toothpick/pencil/chopstick/dowel or straw.
o Copy or print the template below.o Color the bee and flower. Don’t color the center of the
flower too dark.o Cut out along the solid line.o Fold on the dotted line and glue the halves together with
your stick in between.o When dry, Spin the stick between your
fingers quickly and the bee will appearto be on the flower!

o Decorate and embellish as you wish, then write thenumbers on the sections – one for each year of your age.

o You will need 7 popsicle sticks, rubber bands and aplastic spoon.
o Use the rubber bands, on each end, to secure 5 stickstogether.
o Slide another stick horizontally into the bundle, one stickup from the bottom of the stack.
o Secure the spoon to the remaining stick with rubberbands and then place it horizontally on top of the stack.
o Attach the upper and lower horizontal sticks with anotherrubber band.(see illustration below or check in the library or online forideas)
o We will provide mini marshmallowso for testing.

Class No.68Weather Science: It’s Windy Out
There! Make an Anemometer An anemometer is an instrument that measures wind speed. It is usually made with small cups attached to a vertical shaft. Wind causes the cups and shaft to turn, the speed of turning can be used to calculate wind speed. Ten turns per minute means the wind speed is about 1 mile per hour.

o To make your anemometer youwill need:
• Five small (3 ounce) paper cups• One sharpened pencil with
an eraser• Hole punch• Two straws• One push pin
o Punch four holes in one of thecups, across from each other nearthe top.
o Thread the two straws throughthese holes to form a cross.
o Use the pencil to gently poke ahole in the bottom center ofthis cup.
o With the remaining four cupspunch two holes, about and inchapart, halfway down the cup.Thread each cup through one endof each straw. Be sure all cups arefacing the same direction.
o Insert the pencil, eraser up,through the bottom of thecenter cup.
o When it is touching the straws, usethe push pin to gently go throughthe straws, where they cross, andinto the pencil eraser. Don’t pushthe pin too far into the eraser orthe cups won’t spin.
o You can use a fan to test youranemometer.
o Adjust as needed.
