And then, the GODLY BEHAVIOR we must start. First, for ourselves: believers must start building on the Word; praying in the power; and remain in the love of God. Second, towards 3 kinds of sinners: be merciful towards the doubters; snatch those in great danger of eternal fire; and for the depraved sinner be merciful while hating the sin. Ultimately, we are to entrust ourselves to the only one who can prevent us from stumbling and present us blameless before the great presence of Gods glory and joy. Rude Animals by Neville Buchanan

It is not uncommon to see animals misbehaving in public. For instance, members of the camel family can “spit” when provoked. Actually, it’s much worse than spitting – since the spit is mostly the contents of its stomach. The only warning you get is that their cheeks fill out and bulge. In Jude 10 ungodly humans are equated to a level worse than these animals. Jude 10 (ESV) — 10 But these people blaspheme all that they do not understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like UNREASONING ANIMALS, understand instinctively. Animals “behave rudely” only when provoked. However, when we behave contrary to God’s will, Jude says we are acting without reason. For us to continue in our common salvation Jude’s advice is that we must contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints. We do this by STOPPING THE UNGODLY and STARTING THE GODLY behavior. First, the UNGODLY BEHAVIOR we must stop: cease using grace for a license to immorality; stop denying the deity of Christ; halt staining our blood-bought bodies; stop rejecting authority; cease slandering celestial beings; stop flattering and faultfinding; stop being divisive, scoffing, and following our evil instincts. Ultimately, we are to entrust ourselves to the only one who can prevent us from stumbling and present us blameless before the great presence of God’s glory and joy. Friend, look again at the lists of the things to start and stop doing. What one action can you start doing right now, and what one action can you stop doing right now that will greatly improve your righteous standing before God? Dear Father in Heaven, having caught a glimpse of what our lives could be like, we turn to you … Jude 24–25 (ESV) Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

CHURCH DIRECTORY UPDATE

It’s time to schedule your family’s portrait session!

Pictures will be taken on Friday, November 17th

and Saturday, November 18th.

There are 3 ways to schedule:

1. In person at church (see Rebecca or Morgan)

2. Call the church office during office hours

Monday-Friday or Rebecca Watts-859-479-6135

3. Online (Mon-Fri) using the following steps:

a. go to ucdir.com

b. click on large yellow box that reads “click here to

schedule your Photography Session”

user name: ky258 & password: 1body

c. Select time slot that works best for you

“The Best Is Yet To Come” by Andrew Ellis Whether some realize it or not, the

amenities that are available in the

world today have never been better.

Transportation options, medical

care, entertainment options, etc. will continue to

improve as the years go on. While some things in this

world can be great, it can be easy to get caught up in

what this world has to offer. It is important for us to

realize that the best is yet to come:

1 Corinthians 2:6-10 says, “We do, however, speak

a message of wisdom among the mature, but not

the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age,

who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God’s

wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that

God destined for our glory before time

began. None of the rulers of this age understood

it, for if they had, they would not have crucified

the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: “What

no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what

no human mind has conceived”— the things God

has prepared for those who love him—these are

the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep

things of God.”

What God has to offer is superior to anything this

world will ever offer. Each of us has an opportunity

to obtain what God has prepared for us. It is

important for us to not only keep God’s

commandments, but to show our love for Him

through our everyday actions. When we experience

good things in this world, remember this, the best is

yet to come.

TRUNK OR TREAT

This year’s Trunk or Treat will be held on Sunday, October 29th following a shortened evening service. Please plan to decorate your car’s trunk and bring treats to hand out (we will allow those decorating their trunks some time before we "release" the kids). Costumes (nothing scary please) can be changed into after service, before we congregate in the north/front parking lot. Please invite your friends, family and neighbors! See Donna Painter or Paul Watts with any questions.

ANNUAL COSTUME PARTY

Saturday, October 28th at Bill & Sheryl Herald’s

starting at 7pm. This will be an adult party but let

them know if child care is an issue. Please bring a

drink or appetizer. Looking forward to seeing the

creative

costumes!

(There are

also some

clever "non-

costume"

costumes

on line.)

NEW CONGREGATIONAL PICTURE On Sunday, October 29th, directly following am worship, we will all gather for a new group picture to be used in the professional picture

directory.

“SOCKTOBER!” It's that time again! For the fourth year in a row Natalie Denham is

collecting new socks, hats, gloves and blankets for the Welcome House of Northern Kentucky. If you’d like to help, donations can be

dropped in the green bucket in the foyer-it will be there through October 31st. Please see Natalie with any questions.

HURRICANE RECOVERY MISSION TRIP

A group of FHU students, including Jenna Painter, will be traveling to Marathon, Florida at the end of October to assist in hurricane recovery. The estimated cost per student is $300, and the total

amount needed is $6,000. If you are interested in helping, please visit the dreams.fhu page to donate. Thank you in advance for your

support, both financially and through prayer!

COMMIT YOUTH RALLY November 3rd & 4th in Richmond, KY. Please see Daryl or

Melissa Denham with any questions.

POTTER CHILDREN’S HOME GLEANER CANS Available for pick-up at the welcome desk. Please turn your can

back in for pick-up by Wednesday, November 1st.

SUMMIT FAMILY MAILBOX The mailbox is set up in the foyer. If you wish to send a greeting

delivered by the young ladies in the 3rd-5th grade class between Bible class and worship every Sunday morning.

BIBLES TO SIGN

BIBLE CLASS TEACHERS

The fourth and final quarter of 2017 has begun. There are still a few classes in need of a teacher. Please see Steve Proctor if you would

like to sign-up to teach a class.

SUMMIT BOOK SHARE Have you read a good book lately that you found to be

inspirational, or it has a message you want to recommend? Just fill out a book form with the title, author and a short description and return it to the welcome desk. We will print your information in the

bulletin in order to easily share with the entire congregation.
