TENSIONBefore washing: 20 sts and 28 rows to 10 cm measured overstocking stitch using 4mm (US 6) needles.

Tension note: Denim will shrink in length when washed forthe first time.Allowances have been made in the pattern forshrinkage.

Cast off.

STRAPCast on 20 sts using 4mm (US 6) needles.Row 1 (RS): K4, slip next st purlwise (to form fold line), K2, P1,K4, P1, K2, slip next st purlwise (to form fold line), K4.

Row 2: P7, K1, P4, K1, P7.Row 3: K4, slip next st purlwise, K2, P1, C4B, P1, K2, slip next stpurlwise, K4.Row 4: As row 2.These 4 rows form patt.Cont in patt until strap measures 136 cm, ending with a WS row.Cast off.

MAKING UPDo NOT press.Machine wash all pieces before completing sewing together.Sew flap trim to side and cast-on edges of flap, then join cast-offedges of back to upper (cast-off) edge of joined flap sections. Joincast-on edges of side gussets to ends of base gusset.From fabric, cut out pieces same size as joined gussets, joined flapand back, and rem front piece, adding seam allowances along alledges.Matching cast-off edges and gusset seams to corners of cast-onedges of back and front, sew joined gussets to back and front.Fold in edges of strap along fold lines and slip stitch row endedges together.Thread petersham ribbon through strap and trim to match lengthof strap. Stitch all layers together across ends. Position ends of strapinside side gussets and stitch in place.In same way, join lining fabric pieces.Slip lining inside bag, turn under raw edges and slip stitch in place.Attach press fastener to close flap.

SEWING UPWhen stitching the pieces together match the colour patterns verycarefully. Use a back stitch for all main knitting seams and anedge to edge stitch for all ribs unless otherwise stated.
