ABOUT LAST NIGHT... The Round Rock Express salvaged a series split against the San Antonio Missions with a lopsided 9-2 victory on Friday night at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. Round Rock SS Josh Rojas opened the scoring before the first hit was recorded as he jumped aboard via a walk, stole second then advanced to third and home on a set of wild pitches. After San Antonio leveled the score at one in the home half, Round Rock struck back with a three-run third inning to regain the advantage. 2B Jack Mayfield worked a leadoff walk prior to a Kyle Tucker double to set up a two-run single for DH Drew Ferguson. The runner advanced to second when 3B Alex De Goti singled then hustled to third on a Chas McCormick fielder’s choice. A sacrifice fly off the bat of C Garrett Stubbs then plated Ferguson and extended Round Rock’s lead to 4-1. The E-Train offense exploded once again in the seventh as Ferguson and McCormick notched respective two- and three-run blasts to further widen the gap to 9-1. San Antonio CF Trent Grisham notched a home run in the eighth to cut the Missions deficit to 9-2, but the seven-run difference proved too much for San Antonio to overcome. HARTMAN THE HILL Round Rock LHP Ryan Hartman is secheduled to start tonight's series opener against the Omaha Storm Chasers. Hartman leads all Express pitchers with 70.1 innings thrown this season. The lefty also sits among the best in strikeouts with 64, trailing only RHP Jose Urquidy's 64. Additionally, Hartman averages 8.4 strikeouts-per-nine innings to only 2.9 walks. The starter currently holds a 5-2 record in 14 outings, including six starts, trailing only RHP Ralph Garza, whose record is currently 6-1, in total wins. DINGER AFTER DINGER Prior to last night, Round Rock suffered a brief dinger drought, going four consecutive games without a longball for the first time this season. Last night, DH Drew Ferguson and SS Josh Rojas broke up the streak with two multi-run shots that fueled a big win over the San Antonio Missions. Ferguson's shot was his eighth of the season and fourth that was good for two runs. Additionally, Ferguson leads the Express with four seperate four-RBI games, while the next-closest hitter, INF Alex De Goti, has recorded only two. Interestingly, McCormick has recorded eight hits since being recalled from Double-A Corpus Christi, three of which have been home runs, as well as nine RBI with the Express so far. A LITTLE RAIN NEVER HURT ANYBODY The Round Rock Express battled the Omaha Storm Chasers in a four-game series earlier this season and were dominant against the foe, holding a 3-1 record in the season series thus far. Five E-Train hitters hold a career batting averages of .300 or higher against Omaha, led by C Jamie Ritchie at .375 (6-16). In their last series against Omaha, seven different E-Train batters went yard at Werner Park. BRINGING THE HEAT Express LHP Cionel Pérez' start on Friday night marked his first since rejoining the club after a stint with the Houston Astros. Pérez posted his most impressive start of the season in a season-high 5.2 inning outing. The lefty held San Antonio to only three hits and one run. After a first inning tally, Pérez held the Missions to 4.1 scoreless innings to lead the E-Train to a victory over their rival. RECENT TRANSACTIONS Prior to tonight's game, the Express announced that RHP Tanner Duncan will rejoin the team from Class A-Advanced Fayetteville. EXPRESS MANAGER MICKEY STOREYMickey Storey joins the Express from the Class-A Quad Cities River Bandits, where he began his managerial career in 2018. The 32-year-old skipper led the River Bandits to an 81-59 record in 2018, the second-best mark in the Midwest League and the club’s highest win total since 2015. Prior to his time in Quad Cities, Storey served as the Development Coach at Class-A Advanced Buies Creek in 2017. The former right-handed pitcher had a nine-year professional playing career that included one season with the Astros in 2012 in which he posted a 3.86 ERA in 26 appearances with the Major League club.

Storey was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he attended nearby Deerfield Beach High School before moving on to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. He was drafted twice in his career, first by the Minnesota Twins in the 22nd round of the 2007 MLB Draft and again by the Oakland Athletics in the 31st round of the 2008 MLB Draft. During his nine-year professional career, Storey pitched at every level of affiliated baseball, including stints with Sacramento and Oklahoma City in the Pacific Coast League. He also posted winter ball stints in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Venezuela. He finished his playing career in 2016 following two seasons with the Somerset Patriots of the independent Atlantic League. In total, the righty amassed a career 3.52 ERA in 385 games.
