NPLNSW.COM.AU 1ST GRADE MATCH PREVIEW
1ST GRADE - NPL NSW MEN’S
It has been a difficult few weeks for Hakoah Sydney City East but nothing eases the
pressures of the season better than a win.
This week the Gavin Rae coached Hakoah will hope to boost squad morale by collecting three competition points when they host an in form Sydney Olympic 58.
A winning edge has been missing from the Hensley Athletic Field side and they have paid the price for brief, but ultimately costly, lapses in concentration.
A 1-1 draw in Round 5 against Marconi was an improved showing but Rae will feel his team can offer more.
Micheal Kouta has been one of Hakoah’s best in their past two games with the left back providing plenty of crosses into the box from the flanks.
Defence through will be the primary concern against United 58.
After a few teething problems in the opening weeks as they came to grips with new coach Jason Culina’s style, the Reds are back playing some of the competitions best attacking football.
Week in and week out, Panny Nikas and Chris Payne have terrorised opposition defences and are arguably the most dangerous one-two punch in the league.
If Hakoah can limit Nikas’ time on the ball they may stand a chance of cutting the supply to the prolific Payne.
It will be a hard slog for the Eastern Suburbs squad, but there is plenty of belief and Rae is sure to have the fired up for a massive performance.

#NPLNSWMATCH REVIEWSMarconi Stallions 0-3 Hakoah Sydney City East, 5.00pm at Marconi Stadium
Hakoah Sydney City East have won back to back matches for the first time this season following an impressive 3-0 victory over Marconi at Marconi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Paul Hubbard’s side opened their account for the season thanks to a 3-2 victory over Wollongong Wolves last week and were far too superior for Marconi, with Finley Hayhurst, Jordan Makridopolus and Connor Eldridge all getting their names on the scoresheet.
Having notched 14 goals to lead Hakoah’s finals charge last season, the goal for Eldridge is his first effort of the season and should prove to be a key moment for the improving Hakoah side and their top marksman.
Hakoah are now level on points with Marconi in seventh position ahead of a match with Sydney United 58 at Hensley Athletic Field next Saturday.
The defeat for Marconi is their first defeat since opening the campaign with a 2-1 loss against Sydney United 58 – the Stallions will look to get back on track next Saturday when they take on Blacktown City.
Sydney United 58 1-2 Wollongong Wolves, 5.30pm at Sydney United Sports Centre
Wollongong Wolves claimed the upset victory of round six after defeating Sydney United 58 at Sydney United Sports Centre on Saturday night.
Tory Musumeci’s fourth goal of the campaign and a strike from Marcus Bimbilovski ensures Wolves complete the round in the top five and snap a three match losing run in the process.
Modassir Hussain was on target for Sydney United 58 who have now lost two on the bounce ahead of next weekend’s date with in-form Hakoah Sydney City East.
Wollongong Wolves welcome Bonnyrigg White Eagles to WIN Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

NPLNSW.COM.AU U20’S MATCH PREVIEWHakoah Sydney City East have their sights on three wins in a row for the visit of Sydney United 58 this Saturday afternoon at Hensley Athletic Field.
Hakoah have propped up the table and endured a tough start to the year through various misfortune but back to back victories over Wollongong Wolves and Marconi Stallions now has the side within striking distance of Saturday’s opponents.
The visitors have had their issues at the back so far this season but boast several goalscoring threats in the form of Finley Hayhurst and Connor Eldridge, who got off the mark for the season in last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Marconi.
Sydney United 58 meanwhile have slumped to consecutive defeats in the past fortnight, with the last arriving at home in a 2-1 loss to Wollongong Wolves. The Reds are still very much in touch with premiership contenders during the season’s early stages but another loss here would perhaps be a significant reality check.
