NPLNSW.COM.AU 1ST GRADE MATCH PREVIEW
1ST GRADE - NPL NSW MEN’S
Hakoah Sydney City East has fallen out of the top five but will be focused on regaining
that finals qualification position when they host Marconi Stallions on Saturday.
Gavin Rae’s side has been a tough side to break down this season and at home will be confident of collecting a much needed three points.
Recent good form was undone in Round 16 with a 2-1 loss at the hands of Wollongong Wolves.
Marconi were also defeated in round 16 as they fell 2-1 in a hard fought contest against league leaders Sydney Olympic.
The man to watch for Hakoah will be young attacker Anthony Frangie.
Last season was a breakthrough campaign for Frangie and he has continued his development this season becoming a vital cog in the Hakoah machine. His ability to break a game open with his dribbling and eye for goal will make him one to keep an eye on.
Marconi has been bulking up their attacking stocks in recent weeks with the addition of young strikers Hassan Jalloh and Charles Mendy.
Both strikers posses lighting speed and can shred defences at will.
Hakoah’s defence will have their work cut out if Marconi’s new signings take to the field.
This matchup has the potential to be a really entertaining affair with both sides very evenly matched.
Hakoah never gives up and they will need to show all of their fighting spirit against a Marconi team stacked with talent.

#NPLNSWMATCH REVIEWSWollongong Wolves 2 – Hakoah Sydney City East 1 at WIN Stadium
A dramatic injury time goal has helped Wollongong Wolves snatch a 2-1 victory against Hakoah Sydney City East on Saturday.
Peter Simonoski’s 90th minute strike sent the home fans into raptures as Wollongong made it back to back wins.
The goal was SImonoski’s second of the night with the young striker hitting the back of the net in the 75th and 90th minutes.
It was another heartbreaking result for Hakoah who pushed Wollongong all the way but lacked the discipline to hold out and claim a point from the contest.
Sydney Olympic FC 2 – Marconi Stallions 1 at Lambert Park
An Alejandro Sanchez double has helped Sydney Olympic FC to a 2-1 victory against Marconi Stallions at Lambert Park on Saturday.
The Spaniard struck in both halves as Olympic held out a determined Stallions outfit to stretch their lead at the top of the table to seven points.
Olympic were rewarded for a positive start to the match when Sanchez fired a brilliant shot from the edge of the box into the net after 21 minutes to open the scoring.
Marconi snatched an equaliser on halftime as Sean O’Connell’s quick thinking helped him tap home Marko Jesic’s missed penalty after it rebounded off the cross bar.
However it wasn’t to be for the visitors as Sanchez found his second of the match to give Olympic the win and take him to the top of the Golden Boot standings with 11 for the season.

NPLNSW.COM.AU U20’S MATCH PREVIEWHakoah have their season well and truly
back on track after a wobble earlier in the month, following up a 1-0 win over Sydney Olympic with a comprehensive 3-0 defeat of Wollongong Wolves at WIN Stadium last weekend. They retain their six-point lead over sixth-placed Manly United, and remain level on points with Blacktown City above them.
Those gathered at Hensley Athletic Field will be eager for a repeat performance on Saturday when Hakoah host Marconi, having dispatched the Stallions by the same 3-0 scoreline when the two sides met earlier in the season.
Marconi will still harbour faint hope of a push for the top five, though their recent upturn in form still leaves them closer to the foot of the table than the finals positions. A 2-1 defeat to Sydney Olympic in Round 16 was tough to take, yet another loss would almost certainly spell the end of their season.
