#NPLNSWCLUB WELCOME

Welcome to Belmore Sports Ground for our huge top of the table Round 13 fixture

against APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC.

It is extremely pleasing to enter the second half of the regular season in first place on the ladder and congratulations to all who have played a role in this. It is important we maintain our intensity and continue to be better to ensure we hold this position.

Our Senior squads will be looking to bounce back to the winner’s circle after a disappointing Round 12 away trip to the Bonnyrigg White Eagles.

Last week our Special K Women’s program took on the competitive Marconi Stallions FC with the our First Grade team maintaining their position on top of the NPL 2 NSW Women’s ladder with a 3 – 2 win.

Our Men’s youth squads managed some impressive results in what was a clean sweep of victories against Gladesville Spirt FC in all age groups.

Our Boys and Girls SAP programs both played Sutherland Shire FA. All matches were very

competitive and our squads performed excellently against some strong opposition.

Congratulations to Kristy Rohrer who was our Special K player of the weekend in our First Grade’s win over Marconi. Kristy was a stand-out performer.

Congratulations to Luca Holmes from the Under 12 boys squad who is our Conquest SAP player of the week for his ongoing great performances and positive attitude and effort.

We would like to welcome all our sponsors, season pass holders and supporters today and thank them for their ongoing support. A club cannot exist without these people and we look forward to working with you to continue the growth of our Club both this season and into the future.

We have experienced a great start to the season and we need your help to continue this momentum, bring your family and friends and come out and watch the team in action.

NPLNSW.COM.AU 1ST GRADE MATCH PREVIEW

When Sydney Olympic host APIA Leichhardt Tigers on Sunday afternoon, both teams

will take to the pitch with the knowledge the result of this match could very well decide the Premiership.

First placed Sydney Olympic hold a three point buffer ahead of second placed APIA but could’ve very easily been locked on 28 points after Olympic suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Bonnyrigg last round.

However, APIA were unable to take their opportunity to cut into the lead of their Premiership rivals as they too suffered a 1-0 upset loss to Manly United.

Left back Riley Woodcock has provided a new weapon to Olympic’s fast paced attack in recent weeks shining dangerous crosses in from the flanks for prolific front man Alejandro Sanchez.

For APIA, the man will once again be Jordan Murray. The league’s leading scorer failed to add to his 11 goals last match and will be hungry to add to his tally.

This game has the potential to be one of the matches of the season with both teams playing a free flowing and attacking brand of football.

After their unlikely defeats in round 12 they will both come into the game with a renewed focus and drive. The pressure and importance of winning this clash adds even more intrigue for what is set to be a blockbuster contest.

#NPLNSWMATCH REVIEWSBonnyrigg White Eagles 1 – Sydney Olympic 0 at Bonnyrigg Sports Ground

Bonnyrigg White Eagles have stunned league leaders Sydney Olympic with a shock 1-0 upset at Bonnyrigg Sports Ground on Saturday.

A 77th minute strike by Bonnyrigg fan favourite Tynan Diaz in his first game back after a two month injury layoff helped snatch the surprise win and inflict Olympic’s first defeat in 10 weeks.

Olympic struggled to get into gear on a difficult Bonnyrigg pitch and the home side took full advantage.

Both sides had their fair share of chances but it was the fast finishing White Eagles who had too much momentum to stop.

The result opens the door for APIA Leichhardt Tigers to cut Olympic’s three point lead at the top of the standings while it has also brought Bonnyrigg back into finals contention.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers 0 – Manly United FC 1 at Lambert Park

APIA Leichhardt has squandered a glorious chance to overtake Sydney Olympic at the top of the NPL NSW Men’s ladder after suffering a surprise 1-0 defeat at the hands of Manly United at Lambert Park on Sunday.

It was an afternoon defined by missed opportunities for the home side who couldn’t find a much needed goal as Manly took full advantage of the luck on their side to collect all three points.

Despite enjoying the run of play for the best part of the match, the Tigers were unable to make the most of the chances that fell their way, leaving the visitors to edge the game with a single goal from Kieren Paull in the dying moments of the first half.

Shaun Catlin put in an imperious performance in the Manly goal, earning Paul Dee’s men their first win in a month.

#NPLNSWFFA CUP ROUND OF 32

Five NPL NSW Men’s top tier clubs qualify for Round of 32.

Five clubs from NSW have booked their spot in the FFA Cup Round of 32 on Wednesday night.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers, Marconi Stallions, Bonnyrigg White Eagles, Hakoah Sydney City East and Rockdale City Suns all made it through to the national stage.

APIA ran out 3-0 winners over a hapless Sydney Olympic to secure back-to-back Round of 32 berths.

Marconi and Bonnyrigg faced tougher opposition, despite playing sides in lower divisions.

Hills United put up a solid fight against Bonnyrigg, while GHFA Spirit showed, well, plenty of spirit against Marconi.

However, both top-tier sides were able to show their class and advance with 2-1 wins.

Hakoah also played weaker opposition in the Tarrawanna Blueys, and the South Coast side were unable to continue their fairytale run, with Hakoah sealing a 4-0 win.

All the drama was in Rockdale, however, with the Suns securing a dramatic late win.

With 10 minutes left on the clock, it looked like Blacktown were going to continue their run of reaching the Final Rounds of the FFA Cup.

But Rockdale had other ideas, levelling the scores at 2-2 in the 81st minute.

And it was not until the 91st minute that they took the lead in the match for the first time, converting a penalty to book their spot in the Round of 32.

The draw for the Round of 32 will take place on Tuesday, 26 June and will be broadcast on FOX SPORTS.

NPLNSW.COM.AU U20’S MATCH PREVIEW

Sydney Olympic are running out of time to salvage their season and need a morale-

boosting win when APIA Leichhardt Tigers arrive at Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday lunchtime.

Although the bottom-placed Blues have delivered their best form of the season over the recent month, highlighted by a win over Sutherland and draws with Wollongong and Sydney, Olympic still remain rooted to the foot of the table.

The visit of APIA Leichhardt Tigers should inspire a huge performance from the hosts, who will hope to expose the Tigers’ inconsistency in order to kickstart their campaign. Franco Consentino’s side have failed to garner consecutive wins all season and urgently need to arrest their habit of surrendering cheap and costly goals if last season’s Grand Finalists are to fulfil their potential this season.
