On June 30, 2017, the last meeting of the Rotary year 2016-17, our club hosted Rotary District 3080 Awards Function ‘Aabhar….. Dil Se’ at Hotel Shivalikview, Sector 17, Chandigarh.

Governor Raman Aneja, District First Lady Meenu and a galaxy of Past District Governors with their spouses. We had nearly 250 registrations for this event including Rotarians and their spouses from all over District 3080.

DG Raman Aneja gave a presentation, a review of the year 2016-17. He thanked his District team and all Rotarians who performed well to serve the community during the year and taking up amazing projects. DG Raman also acknowledged the support from PRIP Raja Saboo and PRID Yash Das. DRFC Chair PDG Shaju Peter was pleased to announce a record contribution of US$ 6.5 lakh for the Rotary Foundation from our District. He also read the message received from PRIP Raja Saboo from USA.

DG Raman Aneja also honoured DGE T.K. Ruby, DGN Praveen Goyal and DGND Jitender Dhingra who were also present on the occasion.

PRID Yash Das in his address congratulated DG Raman for the amazing year. He also congratulated the large number awardees from various clubs of our District. It was thanksgiving by DG Raman Aneja for their support in serving the humanity during the year.

Marathon beginning by President Dr. Rita Kalra for Rotary year 2017-18

The day 01 started with Hawan and Annapurna day celebration. The Rotarians having birthdays in July brought snacks for the children. Herbal plants and Aawla trees were planted by the children and Rotarians. This was followed by a blood donation camp at Sector 23 Gurdwara. A badminton tournament was organized at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula in collaboration with IMA and Civil Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula.

Next day early morning Swachhta Abhian was conducted at Shiwalik Garden near Manimajra under the leadership of Rtn. Salil Chopra.

10 Rotarians from our club attended the District Training Seminar ‘Udey’ at Hotel Holiday Inn, Panchkula.

Another Swachhta Abhian was held at Railway Station, Chandigarh on 3rd July. 10 bundles of Library books were received by the President for distribution to various schools under Literacy Mission. All the events were well attended by our esteemed Rotarians of Chandigarh Midtown.

Editor PP Dr. V.J.S. Vohra is pleased to inform that our website www.rotarychdmidtown.org has been updated as on 01 July 2017 for the Rotary year 2017-18. Members are requested to visit our website regularly, and take note of Rotary information available therein.

All our bulletins (The Midtowner) are available online from our website for the period of 11 years, that is, since July 2006, when the editor was the President of our club. All our 572 bulletins of this period….. and the forthcoming ones….. can be accessed by anyone from anywhere in the world just by a click of the mouse. Updating of our club bulletin online has become a regular activity of our club, besides its vibrant presence on facebook.

Installation function of President Dr. Rita Kalra and Team 2017-18 on 16 July

Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown is organizing the Installation Function of President Rtn. Dr. (Mrs) Rita Kalra and Team 2017-18 on July 16, 2017. Honorable Governor of Haryana Mr. Kaptan Singh Solanki has kindly agreed to be the chief guest of the function.

PP Rtn. Dr. S.K. Sharma is the Chair of Installation Committee. More details of this event will be in the next bulletin.

Rotary Chandigarh Midtown is organizing a play ‘Where there is a Will’ by Theatre group of English Department Panjab University, Chandigarh.

This fund raiser event shall support the flagship program of END TB NOW by providing nutritional support and rehab for patients of MDR, TB and Leprosy. Join and support the noble cause.
