LAST WEEK – BLAKE RILEY As our Club’s nominee to NYSF - the National
Youth Science Forum - Blake said his 12 days
in residence there was very important for his
science studies.
He said the forum in Canberra with over 100
science students expanded his understanding
and confirmed his decision for a career in
science, which he is pursuing at Monash
University.
This prestigious program allocates 24 places to
D9800 each year, and Blake thanked the Club
for sponsoring him to experience the forum
interacting with other science students from all
over Australia. ….Ed. Elaine Gregory
D.G.’s MESSAGE Last Sunday Rotarians volunteered in a
team effort to support the City2Sea fun-
run. Together we provided 495
volunteers who acted as marshals and
provided support to the runners. It was
simply an awesome effort and a huge
amount of fun! Well done to all the clubs
who got behind this initiative!
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE What a great day to assist Cycling Victoria.
Once again Gisborne gave our volunteers
wonderful weather and the chance to support
the Cancer Council of Victoria.
Well done Club!
PP Caroline, Guest Speaker Blake Riley - NYSF 2008,
Allison Purbrook - NYSF 2012, and Pauline.

published his memoirs in a book under the title
– ‘My Spin in PR’.
Noel was media advisor and speech-writer for
Premier Rupert Hamer from 1973 to 1975. He

Melbourne for the next 20 years. He is
currently editor of the Henry Lawson Literary
Society magazine.
FOODBANK As I will be taking the last lot of groceries to the Foodbank on the first Friday in December (i.e. 2nd
Dec), I would like to ask EVERYONE to contribute this month so that we, as a club, can help people
who are less fortunate to have a happy Christmas.
If you prefer to give me money, I will buy the food and provide you with a receipt, or just drop groceries
off at Di's shop.
Thank you for your support, it would be fantastic to take up 50 bags of groceries, or more! ….Kay Jones

WORLD AIDS DAY December 1st is designated as WORLD AIDS DAY, supporting ‘Rotarians for Fighting Aids’, a Rotary
Action Group. Every 14 seconds a child in Africa becomes an orphan, due to the AIDS pandemic.
There are now 20 million orphans in Africa where AIDS continues to infect and kill 6,000 Africans every
day; robbing their children of their future.
On World Aids Day we are being asked to support this project by giving up our lunch money to sponsor
Aussie Rotary climbers on the Mountains of the Moon in Uganda.

R.I. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE “We all know how much we can do
to help through our Rotary
Foundation. We can change lives,
we can restore hope, we can build
futures - if we choose to!”
WISDOM?
Never claim as a right what you can ask as a favour.
A sceptical anthropologist was cataloguing South American folk remedies with the
assistance of a tribal brujo who indicated that the leaves of a particular fern were
a sure cure for any case of constipation. When the anthropologist expressed his
doubts, the brujo looked him in the eye and said, "Let me tell you, with fronds like
these, you don't need enemas."
