Notices There is no formal Club meeting Wed, 21 Dec., but the traditional, casual, ‘Cake and Port’ meeting will be held at the Cashmere Club from 5.30 pm. Come-and-go as you wish, as there will be no regular dining. You are all welcome be one of a few members who choose to dine later-on at the restaurant. All- in-all, a lovely end to our calendar year. RYLA – currently there are 52 candidates. Seven clubs from outside of Christchurch have no candidates. This year’s programme has 7 new speakers. The course format remains the same. Project work is based on the 6 areas of focus of International Rotary. Club Semantics:

‘Youth’ and ‘Young Adults’ are often confusing terms. ‘Youth Service’ and ‘Young Adults’ far less so. A useful habit to have is that all four service committees are so tagged and referred to as such - Youth Service, Community Service etc.

“Thought” is a confusing term when used in our end of meeting duties, viz ‘Thought of the Week’ and ‘Closing Thought’. Originally and unequivocally these were ‘Quote of the Week’ and ‘Closure’, each with their own specific meanings. With the workload of both the Bulletin Editor and administration in mind, can we make every effort to revert to the originals.
