Hiking Hello Fellow hikers, For our April 16th.hike we will return to Lower Bidwell Park and assemble at the Peterson Memorial Way parking lot at 9:00 AM and

take a nice 3 1/2 to 4-mile "walk in the park" Peterson Memorial Way is located off Vallombrosa

Ave. near Manzanita Ave. Dress per the weather and wear good hiking shoes or boots. Bring water and a light snack and be sure to spray for ticks and check for them thoroughly when you get home. There should be plenty of flowers and new "greenery" so, remember to bring your cameras (phone) and flower guides. This hike is open to all so, bring a friend or, of course, that prospective member. For our convenience, rest rooms are available along the way. These hikes are a great way to meet new people, so come out and make new friends and get some exercise. Mike Lazzaretto will lead you on this hike as I am still in chemo therapy. Thanks again Mike. Jim Hertl, Chairman. For more information call Mike Lazzaretto at 892-8724 or email [email protected]

Cars, Coffee & Donuts The next scheduled event will take place at 10:30 AM, April 23rd. The location will be in Oroville, at

2309 Veatch St. The Host’s name is John Nolind. He owns Pioneer Auto Body. The current plan is to meet at the parking lot at Raley's on Notre Dame Blvd., by O'Reilly's Auto Parts, outside of their parking area. We don't want to take up their parking spaces. We will leave the parking lot at 10 AM. Please be there early as we need to be in Oroville by 10:30 AM and these times may change if it is deemed that we need more driving time. Those that don't want to car pool, we’ll see you in Oroville at 10:30. John has a mixture of cars, two 1966 Mustangs, 1938 Ford Coupe, 2015 Ford Raptor truck, 1978 280Z, 1962 Ford truck, 1962 Ford Stock Car racer, old gas pumps, etc. We will travel to the Sonic Drive In for lunch for those interested. For more Information, call Don Curtis at 343-8893.

New Activity Bidwell Branch 110 now has a new “In Conjunction With” activity in concert with Branch 52. It is called Out To Lunch (OTL) and is headed up by new dual Branch member Bill McNelley. Woodworking March 7: Jim and Genie Currlin came back to Bill Gebhardt’s shop and received help in reconstructing part of an old toy chest. Craig Lindquist milled pieces of maple that will be part of the butcher block table that he has been helping Jim Amis build, made of maple and sapele wood (see photo).

Michael Kobelt routed oval openings in the tops of two kleenex box holders he’s making. Bill Gebhardt repaired two old cabinet doors by cutting off damaged wood and gluing on new wood replacements.

March 21: John Hamiter visited the shop to check out Bill’s collection of woodworking magazines for ideas for a hall table that he’s going to make for a friend. Craig brought a board of red oak and cut out a nice rocking chair runner that will replace a broken one on an old chair a friend has (see photo).

Michael cut parts for a maple box he is making, then routed grooves for the bottom to fit in. Wood Tip - REHEARSE GLUE-UPS. Make your glue-ups more successful and less stressful by practicing with

dry-fits. Lay out the parts, decide where you’ll apply glue, map what clamps go where, plan how clamps will be supported, and organize cauls — and then make sure they’re handy. There’s room for more SIR members to use the shop. The group meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM We go to lunch at 11:30. Call Bill Gebhardt at 879-0429 or Craig Lindquist at 898-8483 for info.
