Room 4 students counted up and graphed the results of the waste created in our lunch boxes.

We did this twice to see if we could make a difference and REDUCE the amount of waste that we create.

Ways that we reduced our waste

If we have 45 pieces of rubbish in our class per day we worked out: 45 x 5 = 225 pieces of waste per week225 x 10 weeks = 2250 pieces of waste per term2250 x 4 terms = 9000 pieces of waste per year for Room 4 only!

That is when we only have two pieces of waste each in our lunchboxes per day.

By reducing our waste from four to two pieces per day, our total waste is reduced from 17,000 per year to 9000 per year, just for Room 4.

Imagine how much the whole school could reduce if we all tried to have less waste in our lunchboxes!
