Rooker Bay Volunteers Needed!TRANSCRIPT

NEW KAYAK AND CANOE LAUNCH!
We are looking for a group of Volunteers to help clear the trash piles at the site for the new Kayak and Canoe Launch at the entrance to Ilses of Capri. Once these trash piles have been hauled off to the landfill, construction can begin! The more volunteers we have, the faster and easier the job will be. THURSDAY, JULY 7th is the date we are proposing, beginning no later than 9am to beat the heat. Please contact Donna Young to sign up. Come out and help get this excting new project underway! SUMMER CAMPS VISITING……volunteers needed!
Also on Thursday July 7th, volunteers are needed to assist
with summer camp groups who are visiting our Learning
Center. We have a group coming from 9-12:30 and
another 12:30-4pm. Please contact Donna Young if you
can help during either shift.

Summer Of Sharks!
Free admission for kids 12 and younger (accompanied by an adult). Stories, crafts,
live animals and more.
Different themes and activities each week as follows:
July 1 - Guitarfish
July 8 - Hammerhead Shark
July 15 - Megalodon
July 22 - Nurse Shark
July 29 - Sawfish
August 5 - Stingray RUSSELL’S CLAMBAKE on-site from 10-1 selling hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, fries, snacks, lemonade and
more.

Summer Evening Lecture Series: Renowned shark experts from around Florida. Speakers include Dr. José I. Castro,
George Burgess, Wayne Hasson and Stan Waterman. They will regale you with
amazing images and gripping stories.
Schedule is as follows:
July 20 – “The Perfect Predator” July 27 – “In The World Of Sharks” August 17 – “Shark Nurseries in the Ten Thousand Islands Estuaries”
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP WITH REFRESHMENTS ON EACH OF THESE DATES.
Community Outreach Volunteers wanted to assist on Saturday,
August 13th, 9am-2pm at the YMCA of the Palms (Pine Ridge Road) for the 2011 Back to School Expo presented by Neopolitan Family Magazine. Contact Donna Young for more details.
Front Desk/Nature Store Volunteers are needed to assist Mary with visitor services and the store. Our greatest need for front desk help is during season, November through April. If you like meeting new people and staying busy, this is the place to be! Shifts are 9-12:30 OR 12:30 -4pm, Monday – Friday.
SEPTEMBER will be here before you know it! SAVE THE DATE! Calling
all volunteers! Reserve your place now to volunteer for
NATIONAL ESTUARY DAY
which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 24. MANY volunteers
are needed to help make this day a success. Last year we had 62 volunteers
helping us on Estuary Day and we will need more this year! This is a very fun and
popular event! Please contact Donna Young if you’d like to help out.
