PROF. OLIMPIA SIMA ,the teacher responsible with the project publications opened the meeting :

“ We want to encourage the

national values at an international

level. To demonstrate

that we are more than capable to

organize this kind of cultural events.“

“It is not by chance that we chose this institution, but it is because here we always found the understanding and the necessary implication needed in such a cultural gathering.

The Rumanian literature is so wide but it has many values and talented people.

The fact that Herta Muller who is a Rumanian, won the Nobel prize because she portrayed the Rumanian values in her writing is a perfect display of how important traditions are for all of us. “

“ It feels very nice to see so many young people here.

LIMES Printing Press celebrated 10 years of existence. I am convinced that the Rumanian literature is very rich and this is why I have tried to write a bilingual edition of some Rumanian writers. In the future I wish to have more bilingual works.

There are many Rumanian writers that for certain motifs left Rumanian and became known abroad. Some of these writers are Herta Muller, Ana Maria Beligan, Panait Istrati who wrote in French and Rumanian.

I have tried to publish all their works in bilingual editions, to” make them more accessible to readers every where.”

“ Rumanian literature changed a lot in the last 20 years, there is a definite progress.

Three years ago in Slovakia we only had Mihai Eminescu’s poems.

But the Ministry of Culture launched a project which wants to promote the Rumanian literature and so Rumanian poets were invited in Slovakia, The Czech Republic, Hungaria and Slovenia. This project published an anthology which was launched in Prague during a football game.”

“ We have to appreciate the values we have and this way they would be valued outside the schools and other cultural institutions.

The interest for literature is cultivated in schools and if we don’t cultivate this love the writers don’t stand a chance.”

“2000 years ago the Latin poet Ovid was exiled to Tomis and this is where he wrote is best work: Tristia and Pontica. He remains as a Rumanian poet, or he was influenced by his native surroundings?

If Emil Cioran, Mircea Eliade , Eugen Ionescu , Herta Muller decided to write in another language they must have used also their native heritage.

You always carry a piece of your native country in your soul.

Probably Mircea Baghiu will never receive a Nobel Prize because he only writes in Rumanian.

But we are very happy for Herta Muller like we were happy 20 years ago when Emil Plade received a Novel Prize for medicine. “
