ROMANIA: A Culture-Centered Service-Learning Program in Agricultural Communication

Maymester 2014Join us on a two-week (May 19 - June 2), culture-centered service-learning course in the beautiful country of Romania. We will work directly with Heifer International and two of its community-based dairy projects in the beautiful communities of Rasca and Belin.

What Will You Do?

• Live and work on the farm with Romanian host families.

• Visit an orphanage served by the Rasca “Milk for Orphans” project.

• Develop informational materials for two Heifer Romania projects.

• Conduct basic social science research, using photography, videography, writing, and journaling.

• Visit and tour the beautiful historic cities of Cluj-Napoca and Sighisoara in the Transylvania region.

Culture-Centered Communication

What better way to fine tune your communication skills by immersing yourself in another culture? You will work directly with Heifer Romania staff to gain a deeper understanding of their work in two community projects and the audiences they are tasked to serve. You will also be challenged to help Heifer develop new communication materials that reflect the families and communities impacted by the projects. It’s a hands-on trip that will bring out your creative side in a friendly and welcoming country.
