My Story

2015, Michelle Y. Talbert@HerPowerHustleMy story

Dreams deferredHigh school graduation at 17Married at 18Son born at 19Daughter at 20By 22nd birthday

But that was only the beginning

Guy Kawasaki dropped out of law school after 2 weeks...then he teased me about him figuring it out faster than I

IN 2009, after leaving yet another law firm job, I was active in the NSA and felt that I wanted to begin speaking an inspirational/motivational speaker--convention got counsel from Valorie Burton and Les Brown; podcasts were gaining popularity with speakers so I recorded 3 episodesDOYD and established twitter established but sat dormant. Then turned to twitter to market. Not very focused approach.

A Media Maven is Born

2015, Michelle Y. Talbert@HerPowerHustleAfter meeting online then datingWe learned what not to do

So many lessons learned about self-publishing and social media

Then the floodgates of opportunity opened...

Engaged interesting people. Simultaneously attending writing workshops and networking in person with people in the DC and NY literary world. First big opportunity EBONY; we then got coverage on various radio shows and podcasts. We travelled across the country featured at various conferences and events. 2013 launched our podcast. By then I was totally in love with social media. I saw the power of social media and in addition to working on love relationships I expanded my personal brand to include business writing and relationshipsI attended a few womens conferences, what is now Steve Harveys Radical Success Institute and Lucinda Crosss first Activate Conf. Met folks in person and continued those relationships online. Im a relationship person. Ive studied human development, relationships and business & personal development for over 25 years and in the digital age whether for love or for business, The main advice that we give to singles is that you have to balance online and offline interactions. So too with networking for your business. Even if you meet people in person if they want to check you out theyll use your website from your business card or google you or find you on linkedin or all of the above. In this day and age you need a strong presence online and in person.
