1 DESCRIPTION

The ROLL-O-MATIC model G5 is an automatic roll filter that uses a renewable roll filter media.

The ROLL-O-MATIC filter basically consists of the filter curtain made of Roll-O-Mat and various mechanical parts to keep the media in place and renew the media.

The Roll-O-Mat media consists of a large number of continuous glass fibres that are bounded together by a thermal setting resin binder through which the media gets a high mechanical strength.

The media has a progressive density and the fibres become thinner in the direction of the air stream (40-20 microns).

The media is impregnated with a special non-flammable jell-like viscosine adhesive.

The media can be used in temperatures up to 80 degrees C.

ARRANGEMENTS :

Arrangement 1 : Vertical roll-filter. Arrangement 2 : Filter installed on its right-hand side. Arrangement 3 : Filter installed flat on its back on the floor Arrangement 4 : Filter installed flat against the ceiling.

2 INSTALLATION

The ROLL-O-MATIC model G5 should be assembled on a flat surface.

The following tools are required :

- 1-10 mm wrench and box spanner, - 1-13 mm wrench and box spanner, - 1- Allen key Set, - 1 adjustable spanner - 1 screwdriver medium size - 1 screwdriver small size,

2.1 Principle

The G5 ROLL-O-MATIC filter can be built from 1 to 5 sections with one motor reducer driving 2 sections maximum.

The left section equipped with the driving system is called «drive section» and the right one «slave section» as it is without motor-reducer. Locate the sections perfectly in line, as shown on the following sketches.

For 1 or 2 sections installed on the side (arrgt 2) see the floor location on above sketch.

2.2 INSTALLING THE MEDIA ROLL «STANDARD Air Flow»

2.2.1 LOADING

a) Remove the Roll-O-Mat media from its carton.

b) Take the media pins for the top roll and place them in the roll.

c) Install the roll between the side panels and let it slide into place. It automatically blocks.

d) Pull the paper leader over the top media turning reel and guide it down between the media guide rods, then go underneath the bottom turning reel.

e) Stick the paper leader into the empty spool according to the sketch «Standard air flow» page 5. Media dirty air side should roll from the lower side of the spool. The tension wires of the media are then located at the back.

f) Wind 20 cm of media by pressing push bottom on the junction box.

2.3 INSTALLING THE MEDIA ROLL «REVERSE Air Flow»

2.3.1 LOADING

Identical to standard air flow paragraph 2.2. a) until d).

e) Stick the paper leader as shown on sketch «Reverse air flow» page 4 The tension wires of the media are then located downstream.

f) Wind 20 cm of media by pressing the push button.

2.4 Duct connections

Holes are punched on top, bottom and side panels (Dia. 10,5 – spaced 101,6 mm). See general arrangement sketch –page 8.

Bolt the duct to the top section and both sides of the filter. Then seal the duct and the filter with sealing material.

3 WIRING DIAGRAM

3.1 Control with pressure switch

See drawing no. M5100-000-001.

3.2 Control with auto sensor See drawing no. M5100-000-002

3.3 Control with timer See attachment M5100-000-003

3.4 Electrical connections

The ROLL-O-MATIC model G5 can be supplied for various supply voltages. The contractor should check whether the equipment supplied is complying to the site voltage.

Pay attention to the motor rotation direction. (Standard air flow or reverse air flow) see page 5.

4 CONTROL ARRANGEMENTS

4.1 Pressure control

The media unwinding is control by a pressure switch, scale 30 to 400 Pascals, recommended setting 140 to 200 Pa.

Connect pressure tips up and downstream the filter

Unwinding is stopped when the pressure drop has reached 120 Pa.

For more information on pressure switch, see pertaining bulletin.

4.2 Auto Sensor Control The media unwinding is control by a light and a photocell calibrated to activate the drive as dirt accumulates. (Work independently from airflow or time cycles.) ideal for both VAV Systems and constant volume systems.

4.3 Timer Control The media unwinding is control by PLC to set the timer. Additional pressure switch can be utilized to override the timer for temporary heavy dust loads, or it may be applied as a media economizer which will not allow the timer to operate until a preset pressure drop is attained.

4.4 Manual Control

a) Turn the on/off selector switch to on position to turn on the power.

b) Turn the auto/manual selector switch to manual to manually start the motor. This switch is also used for installing a new roll or rewinding completely a used roll.

4.5 Auto Control

a) Turn the on/off selector switch to on position to turn on the power.

b) Turn the auto/manual selector switch to auto for differential pressure switch control/photo sensor control/ Timer Control.

4.6 End of media

In the top section is located a media run out switch, which will block the transport of new media into the air stream when the roll has ended. In this case, the signal lamp will light and an optional sound alarm can be added (excluded from AAF supply).

5 GUARANTY

Guaranty can only be granted if media is AAF ROLL-O-MAT.

6 MAINTENANCE

6.1 Lubrication

Reducer is lubricated with synthetic oil : no maintenance is necessary as it is life lubricated.

Periodically check that exterior surfaces are clean.

6.2 ROLL-O-MAT media replacement

Rewind completely the ROLL-O-MAT roll and the paper Kraft end using the manual drive selector switch on the junction box.

To remove the dirty media roll press the spring located in the roll pin opposite to the square drive.

Remove the upper empty media spool and install it at the bottom of the filter.

Follow the instructions of the chapter 2.2.1 « STANDARD Air Flow » or chapter 2.3.1 « REVERSE Air Flow » to install the clean media spool in the upper part of the Roll-O-Matic filter.

Disposal of the used roll is to be done according to the home regulations.

6.3 PROCUREMENT OF THE MEDIA

The initial ROLL-O-MAT media roll is supply with the filter.

When the pilot light of cycle complete on the junction box is on, proceed to the replacement of the ROLL-O-MAT media roll(s).

It is advisable to have ready at hand, one media roll per ROLL-O-MATIC section.

To order new media rolls, please contact the nearest AAF Office or contact AAF Malaysia at +603-50397777 to know your AAF local representative.
