COP25
Chile assumes the presidency of COP25
based on our commitment to
multilateralism and in particular based on
our conviction that climate change is a
collective task that must therefore be
resolved with the cooperation of all the
actors involved.
In this regard, Chile hopes that COP25 be
a transition from the discussions on the
normative framework of climate action to
concrete steps in the global response to
climate change.

COP25
COP 25 is not only about negotiation issues, butabout areas where countries should makeadditional efforts to avoid the consequences ofclimate change in the future and identifyopportunities for a greater mitigation ofemissions.
The need to promote higher levels of ambitioncomes from scientific evidence. The trajectoriesshown by the IPCC in its report reveal thatemissions reductions must be drastic andpronounced, and that the success of theAgreement will likely be determined bymitigation efforts in the next decade.

• Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage
• NDCs Implementation
• Gender Action Plan Capacity Building
Promote higher levels of climate ambition and to
give new momentum to the agenda.
COP25According to recent scientific reports,
they point out that emission reductions
must be drastic and pronounced.
In this sense, the promotion of higher
levels of ambition and concrete actions
becomes relevant with the renewal of
the NDCs from the year 2020, the
development of long-term strategies and
the projection of instruments within the
United Nations System and that
consider the participation of non-state
actors such as the Global Climate
Action (GCA).
This issue will also have special
treatment at the next Climate Action
Summit, convened by the Secretary
General of the United Nations for
September of this year.

COP25 is the right moment to shift the focus of
these confrerence from the negotiations to
climate action. This idea should be translated
into modifications in the working modalities,
allowing greater spaces for the exchange of
information and experiences.
The relationship between the private sector and
civil society can be pillars that strengthen
national strategies against climate change.

There is consensus that GCA
should continue post 2020 and
that it should be expanded to
more non-state actors. Its future
focus must be operational and
serve the implementation of the
NDCs through interaction tools
and regional platforms.

New Paradigms
Ahead
The reduction of the environmental impact related to the generation of waste and the promotion of new paradigms
in the production, business and consumption systems, are scenarios in which new areas of potential development
and cooperation could be encouraged.
The organization of COP25 is a country effort assumed by the government of President Sebastián Piñera and to
which we invite all interested actors to collaborate. Urgent and profound transformations are required through
processes that benefit our communities. In this sense, the Presidency of Chile in COP25 calls for more ambitious
commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and implement concrete policies to adapt to the consequences
of climate change. It is time for action.
