16 AGENTS GIVING BACK: David & Karen Strauss

It is always great when we hear about the community involvement our busy agents take part in. Supporting and volunteering in your local community is important and yes, it helps to be active in your community in terms of marketing yourself but that is not the point here.

This month we want to honor David and Karen Strauss from the Encino office and their ongoing dedication to supporting sick children in need of blood at Children’s Hospital LA. David has been donating platelets for many years. As an AB negative, David’s blood dona-tions are quickly put to use to help sick children with blood transfusions and those in need of platelets. David was recently donating his platelets and the moment the IV was removed the blood bank quickly grabbed the bag and rushed out the door to help someone’s child immediately.

Blood donations across Southern California have come to a slow trickle, with some hospi-tals down to only a three-day supply. “Our collections are 50 percent what they normally are. We are trying to keep up with the needs of the hospital and the sick children however we don’t have an adequate supply of blood in case of an emergency,” says Dr. Ajay Perum-beti, director of transfusion medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. It is things like this you can do for our community, save a life and it doesn’t cost a damn thing but rather you know you saved a life and made a difference in this world. Thanks, David for making a difference.

$3.5 BILLION is a pretty price tag. Zillow’s CEO, Spencer Rascoff, he said the two companies would be able to come together to offer and improve more real estate tools which will drive more business to brokers and their agents. Zillow and Trulia plan on remaining separate and operating normally.The merge of Zillow-Truila is now big enough to attempt to streamline the way homes are bought and sold. However, with their countless “expected benefits” of this merger no talk is about Zestimate or increased accuracy of listings posted.The search results can really be hit or miss. It’s not uncommon to find a home on either site that’s already off the market. Realtor.com, run by the National Association of Realtors (NAR), has made its large MLS network—the site has access to virtually all of the country’s listing services—and made more accurate listing information the cornerstone of recent marketing efforts.Since neither company has access to MLS data that Realtor’s are privy to, rather each relies on a hodgepodge of MLS listings, third-party services, and individual brokerages for their listing infor-mation.
