Dear Mr. Peronto:

Lee County Department of Transportation (LCDOT) maintains approximately 6,500 streetlights throughout Lee County and has agreements with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) within Lee County to provide maintenance of the streetlights on non-county maintained facilities.

Lee County is standardizing on a Wildlife Friendly/Turtle Safe Roadway lighting fixtures for all new construction projects currently and in the near future. We have reviewed the two Wildlife friendly/Turtle safe fixtures that are on the FDOT APL (Autobahn ATB2 and Visionaire Lighting BOW LX II) and after extensive review and comparing photometric lighting levels. We have decided we want to move forward with the Visionaire Lighting BOW LX II, part of our decision for this fixture has a lot to do with the reliability and deficiencies that we LCDOT and FDOT has seen in Autobahn ATB2/ATBL Roadway fixtures. By Lee County standardizing on the Visionaire BOW LX II Lighting fixture, we will be able to keep an inventory in our warehouse and be able to efficiently respond to outages and make the necessary repairs.

Based on the reasons described in this letter, Lee County requests that FDOT approve the proprietary product justification to use the Visionaire Lighting BOW LX II fixture for the wildlife friendly/Turtle Safe Lighting for this project.

The new BOW LX-II LED Series continues the unique contemporary design inspired by the sleek styling of the BOW family. Separating the extruded aluminum driver housing and the individual die-cast aluminum linear LED engines: optimize the life of the LEDs and the Driver(s); and maximizes the lumen output of the fixture. The adjustable knuckle allows for up to 90° degrees of vertical adjustment for putting the light exactly where you need it.

A unique Type 4-A automotive distribution pattern is available for the front rows of Auto Dealerships. 590 nm diode supplied as standard.
