DESCRIPTION

Roads lead the way for many things in life. In this non-scientific article I’d like to present the link between road infrastructure and country wealth. There are so many things that affect road development that it’s hard to make what’s in the equations and what not. Say density of mountains, presence of deserts, prairies, wild forest, say for example city layouts and architecture, zoning law, etc. etc. Nevertheless, as you can see in the chart below there is a clear trend-line showing a correlation between road and country wealth. The higher the road density the higher the GDP per capita. Last voice of nerdiness, it’s not an PPP adjusted GDP, but the trend is very persisting!
