Campus Recruitment
2016Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow
22 3
Dear Recruiter,
Swami Vivekananda has rightly said that education is the training by which the
current and expression of will are brought under control and becomes fruitful. It has never
been more imperative to be aware of one's rights and duties than in today's globalized
world. With the increasing connectivity of the world, legal awareness and enforcement has
gained paramount importance.
Here at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, we believe that education is
the backbone of any healthy society, and imparting an extensive legal education is
quintessential for progressive development of that society. In our opinion, legal education
should not be merely academic, but holistic and integrated with practical experience that
is necessary for any good lawyer. We aim not only to create good lawyers that aspire for
perfection, but also good citizens. Our curriculum is thus, carefully designed to
intellectually stimulate, inspire thought, and cultivate and foster skills that are necessary
for any lawyer to flourish and shine.
Therefore, I consider it a privilege to introduce the batch of 2011-16, which comprises
of one hundred and fifty bright, well rounded, talented, skilled, and morally upright young
law students, for whom achieving excellence is not only a duty to their conscience, but vital
for their integrity. They have not only excelled academically but have also outshined
themselves at various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities like moot courts,
debates and the like. They have optimally utilized these crucial years to venture into the
legal world as interns so as to develop their legal acumen, and acquire the proficiency and
insight that only practical experience can give.
I am sure that each and every one of them will be a valuable addition and an
indispensable asset to the institution they become a part of.

“A man who has never gone to school may steal from a freight car; but if he has a university education, he may steal the
whole railroad.”
-Theodore Roosevelt
Dear Recruiter,
From its inception, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National
Law University has been witness to a sea change in the
scenario of legal education in this country. In this context our
University along with its students has consistently strived to
achieve excellence. Closing in on a decade since
establishment, this University has participated with gusto in
the process of sculpting a flawless structure of legal
education in our country. Our goal, however, is to become
the epitome of perfection and bear a guiding light to
upcoming institutions in this field.
Therefore as the Head of Department for Legal Studies, it gives me immense pleasure and boundless
joy to present before you our Batch of 2011-2016. The energy, enthusiasm and level of dedication exhibited
by the students of this Batch are inimitable. As students, they have endeavored to prepare themselves for
the industry by interning in diverse areas and developing their skill-set holistically. These students are not
restricted in their knowledge to the well-known worlds of litigation and corporate law but have also excelled
in other juristic issues. It is a matter of sheer pride for me to provide the legal fraternity with such diligent and
keen students.
This batch has always shouldered the responsibility of shaping themselves into finely cut and polished
diamonds. This is evinced by their spectacular performance in academics as well as extra-curricular
activities – be it National and International Moot Court Competitions; Writing and Debates; Seminars and
Symposia or Sports and Cultural Events, the Batch of 2011-2016 has brought this University countless
laurels and accolades.
The present Batch is fully equipped with the skill and acumen required to handle complex legal
situations. I am certain that these wonderful students would become visionaries and leaders in their
respective fields in the near future, and bring about better standards of legal professionalism in India and all
over the globe.
I wish them the very best in all their endeavours.

Campus Recruitment
2016
“There's no limit to what a man can achieve, if he doesn't care who gets the credit."
— Laing Burns, Jr
The overall development of students is the main goal of the students committees. Not only are these
committees the best approach to encourage extracurricular activities, they are an excellent way to instil in
the students the qualities of teamwork and leadership. The following are most active student committees of
our University:
Internship and Placement Committee
Consisting of five members from each batch of the
course, the internship and placement committee works
under the able guidance of its faculty advisors to help the
students achieve their true potential. Working while
learning helps the students to discover their areas of
interest, and ultimately, to decide the course they wish to
pursue in law. Internships are thus, a valuable way to
interact with the law while we are still studying. From the
first year in college to the time a student passes out, the
committee is primarily responsible for assisting and
providing internships for students. Finally, it is through the
placement committee that all arrangements of students
with their prospective employers are engineered, be it PPO
or Campus Recruitment.
Cultural Committee
The Cultural Committee which also goes by the name
Tehzeeb, captures the essence of culture of Lucknow
which is one of the major cultural centres of the country. The committee has truly lived up to the city's repute
for promotion of art and culture, time and again. Besides encouraging students to take part in cultural
events all over the country, the committee organises a three day long cultural extravaganza 'Ohr' every year
and it also credited for being the leaders in organising the University Annual fest 'Spoculit'.
Debate and Discussion Committee
The quintessential qualities in a good lawyer are clarity of
thoughts and brevity of expression. While being a good speaker
comes naturally to some, it takes practice for others. The DDC
provides the platform for students to learn and improve the art of
expressing oneself. The Committee is involved in debates in different
formats and organises annual month long debating league 'Tark' and
also the political debate 'Satta' which is wildly popular. It is also
responsible for selecting debates and speakers to represent the

Journal Committee
It is a very important part of legal education to think independently
and to pen them down that others may have an insight to them. The
Journal Committee's RMLNLU Journal prides itself with the collection
of countries finest legal articles. The Committee is actively involved in
collecting, editing and improving vast legal articles for the journal.
Besides this, the committee organizes a number of events to cherish
the literary and the poetic spirit, the most notable being one of the
most awaited events on campus – the week long literary fest EOS.
Legal Aid and Social Awareness Society
The basic purpose of law is to improve the social order. But what is the use of law if the aggrieved are
not aware of their rights or do not have the means to avail remedies? The Legal Aid Committee is living the
dream of our mentor Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya – working for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden.
Through camps and campaigns the committee helps and increases awareness of these people while it
approaches leading lawyers to take up pro bono cases for those who seek such help. RTIs are filed by the
committee as well for their relief and benefit.
Moot Court Committee
Moot Courts and mock trials are now seen as an essential part of
training in law schools. The MCC conducts an annual intra moot court
competition on the basis which various national and international
moots are assigned to individuals and teams as per their performance.
It is also the primary committee concerned through which the
University hosts Moot Court Competitions of its own.
Sports Committee
Sports are synonymous with talent, discipline, determination and
tireless pursuit towards excellence. Our University recognises the
importance of these qualities in any form. The Sports Committee is
tasked with the arduous responsibility of choosing and training the
students to represent the college. The committee organises various
sporting events such as football, cricket, badminton, basketball, table
tennis, and chess throughout the year.
Student Welfare Committee
The Student Welfare Committee is a forum of expression for the students where initiatives are taken for
the betterment of the students and through which students can freely voice any grievance. Acting as the
collective voice of the students, this committee is instrumental in ensuring that the problems and
expectations of the students are being met by the university. On the other hand, initiatives are taken up to
increase the awareness of the students for a healthier lifestyle on campus.
Website Management Committee
The RML Website Management Committee caters to the University's needs for communication with its
administration, faculty members and the students. The Committee seeks to improve upon the existing
website and to incorporate ideas and contributions from every member of the RML fraternity. The
Committee strives for improving upon the transparency in the Campus activities, and keep the world
informed of the recent strides of the University

FENZA
The Sports Committee of the university is extremely active and aims to
cultivate and nurture athletes and teams who will bring laurels to the
University. Already achieving success in this goal as basketball and
volleyball teams bring Gold and Silver from sports fests like Yuvardha
(NLU Jodhpur) and Viruddhaka (NLIU BHOPAL), 'FENZA', is the brain
child of the Sports Committee. It is an annual intra-college sports fest
which aims at promoting the sports culture and giving an impetus to
the budding athletes to showcase and test their skills in their
respective arenas, the committee leaves no stone unturned to cater to
as many and as efficiently as possible.

कृण्वन्तो विश्वमार्यम
To make the entire world virtuous.
From Donoghue v. Stevenson, right upto Vodafone v. Union of India, the RMLNLU Batch 2011-16, for the last five years of its rigorous legal training, has not lost sight of the aforesaid mantra. Recognising that hawk-like-agility is the core skill that we need to inculcate in ourselves as aspiring lawyers, we still value the importance of “virtue”- hence, our persistence in strict adherence to rules and discipline.
Trophies and mementos fall tremendously short of defining our quest for learning. Our national and global level Moot Court and oratorial achievements are not what we boast of; we usually do not talk out loud of our publications: what we really value is what we have learnt while attempting all of these, and the fact that we fared well in these attempts and stood out on the podium all these years, is of relatively less significance to us compared to the value that we assign to the skills, which we honed while engaging in such activities.
We inculcated respect for the law while reading it. And throughout, we strove to develop an unparalleled sense of professionalism: our teachers guided us in this process, and so, while learning the law, we acted, not as students, rather as contract lawyers, or tax lawyers, or real estate lawyers, or corporate lawyers, while remaining, at our very core, as advocates of justice. We argued and argued, till we acquired the ability to unearth the multitudes of the layers of the law.
And while we studied the laws in theory in full rigour, we didn't lose sight of them in practice. So, when our classes were dormant, we were nevertheless active, in law firms, courts of law, law publishing firms, LPOs, PSUs, and even in law libraries-wherever we scented the possibility of learning the law. More importantly, we also engaged ourselves in legal aid initiatives, consistent with our motto, learning important lessons in social responsibility.
And, most importantly, we have stayed together. Our curiosity has been fuelled by our collective desire to excel, and in the days and months and years to come, we seek to substantiate this desire with tenacity of purpose and respect for equity and conscience.

The Recruitment Process is conducted by the Internship and Placement Committee of the University. It
is a holistic process which commences in the month of February, and is aimed at facilitating the reach
between graduating students and prospective recruiters. The recruitment process is governed by the
Recruitment Process Rules which outline the duties and responsibilities of the Placement Cell, the
Students, as well as the Prospective Recruiters. These rules expedite the procedure to ensure optimal
flexibility to the students as well as the recruiters.
The recruiters are encouraged to conduct pre-placement talks highlighting crucial principle features of
their organisation, job profile, terms and conditions of employment, remuneration and other relevant
information. The recruiters are urged to indicate their preferred dates for such talks to the Placement
Cell either by e-mail or telephonic communication a week prior to their arrival.
In furtherance of the process, the organisations are requested to register themselves with the
Placement Cell with their preferred dates in the final placement schedule, by filling the recruitment form .
The recruiters are at liberty to determine their eligibility criteria, and the policy for the screening and
recruitment process. Organisations can also opt for telephonic interviews and interviews via video-
conferencing, and the Placement Cell shall facilitate their process as and when required. In case the
recruiters do not want to conduct a pre-interview screening, the CVs of the interested and eligible
students shall be forwarded to them, before the final interview. The Placement Cell works to ensure that
final recruitments are conducted in a fair and transparent manner so as to maximize the interest of both
the students and the recruiters.
