Message From The President Bonnie Moffett, RMCC President

This is a wonderful time of the year with Summertime and the cars are cruising…

Of all the duties as President of this club, writing the bi-monthly President’s message is the worst. It’s always difficult to come up with something that will inspire everyone to get out there and show off your beautiful vehicles. While I know we all have lives and commitments outside of the club, please come out and play as much as you can and show support for the club activities. (We can’t let those GM’s out-number us at shows!)

We will be voting on the type of car show we want for 2019 at our next club

meeting on August 13th. If you are unable to make the meeting, please make certain to get your ballot (which is included in this newsletter, page 11, thanks to David Ramsey) back to us prior to that date so your vote will be counted. You can mail it to our PO Box (listed on the membership application included in this newsletter) or send your vote to [email protected]. Your options are a one day show like the 2018 Rockin’ Street Hop which includes all cars, trucks, etc. or a 3 day show like Restomods in Reno which is an all Ford/Mustang show.

For all you do and all the fun we have together as a club, thank you all.

Bonnie

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Membership At last report, Christina reported we had 66 members and 90 vehicles in the club, but I missed the last meeting, so I’m sure it’s higher now. As usual, if you need a member’s badge, or haven’t yet picked yours up, see Christina to get it.

Wounded Warrior Family Support Charity Event By Raul Caceres

The specially equipped Wounded Warrior Family Support Ford Raptor pickup arrived in Reno on June 29th and was met by a group of the club’s Mustangs, led by NHP trooper Barbara Stapleton. For the next 9 days, the Raptor was involved with various activities and visited many places, such as the Bonanza Casino, Atlantis Casino and Incline military group. Betty and I drove the Raptor to all. We had a WWFS golf tournament at the Washoe County course and had an extremely good showing. During the 4th of July holiday, all drivers (myself, Betty, Joe and Fran Wyatt) attended the Truckee Parade. With 9 Mustangs, we had Blue Star Mothers and the Raptor highlight the cool parade. After the parade we had a great lunch at the home of Al and Sue Salas. By the way, this was the 3rd year the club won an award with our showing. On July 5th we attended the Aces baseball game. The Raptor, along with Betty, Fran and Barbara was driven around the infield after the 4th inning. Such a positive stand up crowd showing their appreciation for our Wounded Warriors Family Support mission. Saturday, the Raptor, with Joe, Fran, Betty and myself, spent the day in downtown Reno at the Wings Fest. To say the least, we really hauled in the cash for the charity. Finally, on Sunday, our time was up, and the Raptor was delivered in Loomis, CA, to Dan McCabe, member and driver for Golden Hills Mustang Club. Overall, the ten days we spent with the Raptor were very profitable for the WWFS. I can testify that the citizens of Reno and Lake Tahoe are very generous.

Pay Attention!! Information About This Year’s Christmas Party from Darold!! At the September meeting, I will be handing out dinner menus for the Christmas Party dinner. The members present at that meeting will be making the decision as to what type of food we will be having at the party. Tamarack has an all new banquet menu. So, if you want to be able to make the choice for the dinner, you need to be at the meeting. If not, don’t complain about the choice. Unofficial Field Trip

Not a club organized event, but the invitation is extended to all. The group will meet at the Gold Ranch Casino in the parking lot behind the gas station at 10:15 am, September 22nd, and leave promptly at 10:30 to head to Truckee, CA, taking Hwy 89 to Graeagle, CA, arriving around noon at Gumbas Family Pizza. We have the patio reserved and plan on having a great time and FOOD.

After lunch everyone is on their own on getting back to Reno. We will be taking Hwy 70 to 395 and South on 395, the shortest route. Thanx to Barb Stapleton for arranging this.
