GROUP EXERCISE BRAINSTORM
Topic: How will the future of media be? Will there be Television as we know it?
Task:
Prepare a brainstorm session to be held with the class
Brainstorm should take 30 minutes
Rules of brainstorming: no critiqism, let all ideas blossom
Think of different roles for group members
Find background material to inspire the participants
Do you need props (white boards, flip overs, pens, tape)?
Prepare a 5 minute presentation, class will choose the best, and your prize is that your brainstorm will be performed in class

Topic: Find and Critique Literature
Task:
Pick a topic (think of the topic for Friday)
Go to the Library or Google Scholar to find relevant literature
Choose 2 papers, and provide a critique
Hints:
Was the abstract clear, was the topic clear, was the paper clear?
What was the problem statement?
What was the research method?
What was the conclusion? Did they answer the problem statement?
Did you like the topic?
Do you consider the paper “good research”? Why? How can it be improved?
Prepare a 10 minute presentation. Each group will present on Wednesday.

Topic: Write a research proposal
Task:
Pick a topic (need a brainstorm session for inspiration?)
Perform the steps:
topic, legitimization
problem statement, research questions
literature
hypotheses, research method
*expected* results
Write a 1-2 page research proposal, to be handed out on Friday around noon
Create a 10 minute presentation to be presented on class on Friday after noon
